No delays and no stops at all checkpoints southbound, including the border, where they just used the red/green light system.
Still doing construction with minor delays near end of Ruta del Vino before Ensenada turn, with a few miles of rough "cobblestone"-like dirt road.
Driving a small car just after dark was annoying, with high beams, mis-adjusted headlights, and missing headlights galore. They don't thin out until
about 10-11 PM, when the more serious night-drivers come out.

Anybody have any news on how Hwy 3 is faring with the storm passing through? When I drove north last month there was a lengthy stretch near the
southern end of Hwy 3 that was all dirt, different levels, etc that seemed like it could turn into a bog with enough rain. I'm heading south on

We do it both ways every year (almost).
The worst pull is heading up the hill, going south out of town.

Is it reasonable to make it as far as Ranch Santa Inez on the first driving day? We will be hauling a 30 ft 5th Wheel
As above I had planned to stay at the Portrero Park and get the permits organized the day before.
For my family, a 10 hour drive is pushing it but 6 to 8 hrs is pretty easy to handle.

The immigration office is on the right, just across the border.
The building with the ramp and stairs.
The bank is now a block or 2 away.
You can usually park on the US side and walk across for the visas.

I stop at the side of the office ( orange cones) and get the paperwork done and then drive down to the bank. Tip the guy a buck and go into the bank
get the paperwork completed and then some pesos and walk back up to the office. Walk back down and give the guy another buck if my van is still
there.
