In my upcoming trip to Baja, we may stay stop in Mulege one night. I am hoping if anybody can recommend a good place. I stayed in Mulege a few years
back but I remember there weren't too many choice of accommodations....
I am fine with very minimum, rustic place, as long as it is clean and well taken care of. The best example will be Motel Las Ballenas in GN. I like
that place. It is not fancy, but clearly, people make effort to clean and look after the place. My budget is anywhere up to $50 for two.

I like the Hacienda. Get a room across from the big bouainvillea. They are quieter. Also they have a small parking lot in the back and easy walking

La Hacienda has the most character, Mulege Hotel is great, La Casitas is the "cosiest" but sort of on par with Hacienda's state of maintenance (El
Candil has best margs in town)...Cuesta Real on the south side of the river is also a good choice....

A good cheap clean hotel in Mulege = La Hacienda downtown. Arborium courtyard setting. Ambiance and shady characters..the Baja Feeling. Oldest
still-operating hotel in Baja Sur.
Santa Rosalia has many such cheap clean hotels. Jut drive around town and take your choice. A good pick is Hotel Frances for character and charm.

South of Santa Rosalia about a mile on a cliff overlooking the sea is the El Moro. I rented a room there for a month a few years ago while collecting

I would highly recommend the Cuesta Real... Ken, the owner, is most accomodating. It's located right on the river and is within walking distance to
town.
Cuesta Real is where I had a briefcase stolen last year with my passport, fm3, wallet,lots of personal stuff and over $1,500 in cash...stay at your

Ken no longer has the Cuesta Real, when I saw him in May he told me that he has a new restaraunt at Punta Chivato. He used to lease the hotel but no

Thank you for the info. I have seen names of all these hotels in my Baja guide books, but I don't really trust what the guide book say, so it is very
nice to get opinions from people who actually stayed there.
... Terry, sorry to hear your bad experience. But we never travel anywhere with that much cash (although you must have had a reason too) and stuff.

Nope, never a bank that I know of, soulpatch. Can't think of any bank that was a hotel, either? There has only been two actual banks in Mulege since
1970. Both on the same block..the one opposite the downtown Pemex station. One on the corner of that block and the other, Bancomer, exists today on
that same block...just around the corner.
The Hotel Mulege is nice enough, newer than most, and easy in-easy out. A typical motel, nothing more, nothing less. Best feature is Mely's across
the street for food. For more charm venture further downtown or the rio.
