I didn't get a chance to read the particulars, but they make it look fun at first glance.

3 nts long/ 3 nts strong?
Even in my younger days
I don't think I could make
that. San Felipe has been
bemoaning tha lack of Tourists
the last 2 yrs. I can't imagine this
event will draw more than a couple
drunks sitting on the Malecon wall
across from the Beachcomber/Rockadille

i did not know that rockodile is a strip joint.

sounds like spring (fall?) break for the second-tier colleges and college drop outs

OLIGUACOMOLE - 8-24-2009 at 06:38 PM

With the bad news about TJ and Rosarito Beach nearly shut down with tourists, maybe San Felipe is trying for the young crowd??

OLIGUACOMOLE - 8-24-2009 at 06:41 PM

Beer bongs anyone?

redhilltown - 8-24-2009 at 11:18 PM

service providers in town are ready to welcome you, your family and friends!

Um...just what KIND of family are they referring to?

Hmmmmm.....

The poster says: "No passports needed 18+ I.D. and Birth Certificate"

I hope nobody actually beleives those yahoos.

About a month ago I took my son and some of his friends to Baja. Two of the boys didn't have passports so I called the Mexicali Port of Entry. They told me that, while they preferred the boys had a passport, it would be okay if they had a photo id and birth certificate.

In addition, they said that if you have applied for but haven't received your passport yet, you can show them your receipt. Or, if you have a passport, but left it at home on the dresser (like my son did), hopefully you can call and have someone from home read you the passport number, which you can give to the agent.

Of course, this was a month ago, . . . . .

San Felipe as a tourist destination! Have to agree with Viabaja--that IS a first.

Bajahowodd - 8-26-2009 at 02:29 PM

Technically, no passport is needed to get to San Felipe. There is a link to the requirements tp return to the US and they specifically require passports.

That being said, It appears that this may be a stroke of genius. San Felipe is isolated from most areas where violence has been reported. Even Mexicali can't hold a candle to what's been happening in TJ and Juarez. A factor is that if you were a bad guy, you'd have to worry about your exit strategy, what with a single highway in and out, and the Southward one eventually becoming dirt.

Did anybody go? How was it?

We rolled through the arches on Friday about 5 p.m. and they were handing out flyers still for the "big party". We never made it to downtown while heading north or south, just straight to our beach house below San Felipe.

It was hot and humid!

Good to hear you are back, Chuck! Elizabeth and I went to Henderson, NV. and visited with family... took a drive over Hoover Dam to admire that huge new bridge they are building. Weather was awsome in the area... We may shoot for Shell Island for my birthday later this month!

Went to my casa Thursday, after getting my new Sentri Sticker for my New Truck. Went to the Jollymon and played some blues harp with Agave Blues Band. Took some great photos of the lightning storm, oh yea, I sweat a bunch. Came back Monday at 10am

We stayed at Lake Mead RV Village just last month for a week and saw the new bridge and did the tour as well. Very impressive! The best part was launching at Lake Mohave and taking the Jet Ski's up river to the base of Hoover Dam, now that's impressive!

Well you didn't miss much at Shell Island. It was very hot but the water wasn't as hot as I've felt it previous summers, almost a cool 87 degrees, better than 92.

Michael (Steekers) and Joanne made it by Sat. afternoon and stayed the night then the wind dropped nicely (as it was blowing hard on Sat.) on Sunday and we played in the lagoon with the jet ski's and all in all had a great time, they're good people!
