Well now, Folks. I have to tell you that Jaime and I have been so darn busy that I just wondered what I would do with the 30 minutes which has just
been given to me...So I thought I would write a wee tiny bit about my favorite subject...BAJA.
Guess I will try to do this in a form of a trip report...About a month ago Keri called and let us know that Maria and Polo and their family had lost
their home and everything in it—save the bathtub. So nothing to do but load the car up with stuff for the family and head south to Cajon de Tigre to
see how we could...hey found a brand new highway between the Wine Country and Ensenada...not really complete but where it is finished it is a marvel.
Really lost track of time but did manage to make several trips down and back with the vehicle loaded to the roof. The new folks, military and
civilians, were at the gate on our second trip and we got pulled over and given a thorough going over. At one point a Marine with a camera was taking
pictures of everyones license plate...didn't like that. Got down to Jaime's insulin and it looked like we were going to be turned around because she
had forgotten her prescriptions.
But, No! Jaime—always thinking—began to talk very earnestly to the young guy who was tearing the car apart. Yep! She offered to show him how she
administered her shot and when she began to pull her blouse up he suddenly backed himself out of the car and began to tell her, “No! No! You can go”.
Finally I took pity on the kid and told Jaime enough was enough and we hauled butt out of there.
After we dropped this load off Keri and Mike asked us to have a late lunch with them at a NEW RESTAURANT...at KM 52 on the free road. The name...most
unusual for Baja...simply The Splash. Sits atop a lava flow that ends in the crashing waves...Really beautiful location.
We had just ordered our drinks when one of the tallest Mexicans I have every seen approached our outdoor table and asked Jaime if she was not Dick
Harrison's daughter. Nicolas Santos is his name, he owns the place. He apparently had worked some time ago as a bartender for her dad.
All the folks here were very pleasant and wore their smiles very nicely...Even when I got my tongue all tied up and ordered...”Fish Eyed Tacos”.
They were so sorry that they didn't have that but they did have wonderful Fried Fish Tacos.
Check the place out. The menu travels from a Fish Taco for $1.25 to 7 Mares Soup...great... $11.00...from clam chowder at $2.95 to Whole Fish fried
$9.00 and whole Lobster at $18.00
We made several more one day trips and stayed down for the Potluck to raise money for Maria and Polo that Keri and the lady's held. Wonderful, “Baja
People helping People” Love it!
Yes! We did visit the Splash a couple more times on the way home. Wonderful and it seems to attract 'happy folks'.

Great to hear from you Bernie... Please bring the new wife up to our home sometime for a visit, etc. (all the Dos Equis lager especial you can drink,
as well)! You have my number...

Hmmmm. Insulin and insulin syringes do not require a prescription in California and most other states, as well as Canada. I know this from personal
experience.

sorry for the 'jack....
when we were driving south along the border fence saturday morning my wife and i noticed 3 guys with arms extended and clenched, in various stages of
nailing a vein sitting on the k-rail facing the norte. they were surrounded by 5-8 others who were staring intently at the drama..... our slipstream
couldn't have been a benefit!
now we gotta watch druggies slam herion? the appeal is rapidly losing it's luster.....
