La Paz Trip

boe4fun - 9-15-2009 at 09:48 AM

Hola Todo, My wife and I will be leaving the San Luis Obispo area on or around September 22nd for La Paz, BCS. We plan on taking plenty of time to get there as the Rotarians Clinic that we volunteer for will not start until October 5th. We will be driving down with our 25' 5th wheel and 2 doggies. We will cross the border at Otay Mesa and take the newer road south to where it merges with Mex 1 south of Rosarito beach. So far, we plan on camping the first night at Corona Beach, just south of Ensenada (near Estero Beach). Then we plan on spending 2 nights at El Pabellon, south of San Quintin. I will have to hold a short clinic at the Flying Sams in the Los Pinos ranch complex for a few hours while there. Next we will be stopping at either Catavina and/or Bahia de los Angeles for a 2 or 3 night stay. While there, I will have to backtrack to Coco's Corner to visit him and follow up on the 2 prostheses I fit and delivered to him this past spring. Coco's most recent amputation still has not healed completely and he's seeing a doctor in Guerrero Negro to try and address the delayed healing situation. Hopefully they can find some "Scarlet Red" ointment or something similar to help promote skin cell growth to get this wound to close (it's been over a year). We most likely will stay at Daggetts while in BoLA, and I'm taking down an 8' inflatable with a 7 HP Yamaha to do a little near shore fishing. We then plan on spending nights at San Lucas Cove, Playa Requeson, and possibly San Juncalito (south of Loreto) and doing a little fishing along the way. I will need to make 2 short side trips into Santa Rosalia and Loreto to see 2 families. Dr. Alejandro Aguirre, our Rotarian contact in La Paz, wants me to visit these patients on our way south. From there it's on to La Paz. Returning to the USA will also be a slow paced trip, with stops along the way to do some fishing. We also plan on going out to Bahia Asuncion on the Pacific side to camp at Shari and Juan's newer campground, and fish/snorkle while there. Maybe a run up to San Rogue for a couple of nights as well. If anyone is interested in caravaning for all or part of the trip on either the way south or on the way back home, you can email me at: boe4fun@charter.net Happy Trails, Paul and Shelley Boe
