JR: my friend climbed the hill starting from where you med-moor. It was slightly north-east of this spot.

My boat is hidden behind the fishing boat, you can see the dingy we used as a bridge to get to shore.
It's from a trip we took from San Carlos last summer.

Where in Mulege was your first "Mulege" photo taken?

Last one - Loreto boats looking out to Isla Carmen

I just told you!

Keep em coming JZ

jrbaja - 6-27-2004 at 05:53 PM

when you get a chance. Great photos!

Yep

jrbaja - 6-27-2004 at 05:59 PM

The pic. was too big where I originally asked so I deleted that post. You had answered by the time I got back. Dial up connection here!

So who won the shoot-out

JZ - 6-27-2004 at 06:05 PM

Dogs against boats. Dolphin vs. Dolphin.

Has the great JR, king of Baja photography, finally been de-throned!

Shoot Ken

jrbaja - 6-27-2004 at 07:00 PM

I can't get it to come up. And you have some of the BEST photography I have seen. Try again por favor.
Some people don't post their pictures because they are planning on making money from them later with a "Baja Book" or whatever. And believe me, there's a bunch of em!
I am not planning on making money from my pictures so I post them for everyone's enjoyment.
If the majority of people on here would prefer I didn't, or those that think it's some sort of competition to try and make themselves feel important and turn even a "Favorite photos" thread into some lame gringo B.S., then we are probably better off not sharing photos.

I think you told somebody else today...

JZ - 6-27-2004 at 07:04 PM

... that they needed to get laid. :light: Take your own advice! Or at least have a Pacifico. :tumble:

I think I got it right this time...

Ken Bondy - 6-27-2004 at 07:08 PM

I was obviously doing something wrong but I see the photo in my post now. jrbaja I really enjoy seeing your photos, please keep 'em coming. You have a wonderful eye. Also, can you tell me the outcome of the dog/sea lion encounter?? That is a super image.
++Ken++

Thanks Ken

jrbaja - 6-27-2004 at 07:28 PM

that was a hysterical encounter. There was very little barking from either side and Big (the dog) would circle around it and the seal would keep an eye on him as well.
I think they were kind of impressed with each other or something! We went up to the house, and the seal went on it's watery way.
Big spends a lot of time around animals in the hills so he's pretty much trained to "keep his cool", unlike his owner.

Ken, plainly identifiable as Cabo Pulmo, especially easy given your favorite pastime. Probably taken from the tennis resort property, am I right?

Posted photos don't need to be more than 700 pixels on the longest side. Don't cry about a dialup connection, then post large images that when combined take too long to load, even with broadband.

Crying?

jrbaja - 6-28-2004 at 06:47 AM

ah, another one ************. The pictures are still too big? Is that what you are trying to say ****************************?

[Edited on 6-28-2004 by BajaNomad]

Nikon - 6-28-2004 at 06:54 AM

My, you're quick on the uptake. Not only are they too big, there's too many for one page.

Back to the drawing board

jrbaja - 6-28-2004 at 07:18 AM

Wel then, I reckon I needs some more schoolin.
I got them to where they say 49.7 something Kb's in Photoshop without loosing too much quality on the digital photos.
And the old scanned photos are almost under 50 Kb's when they go into Photoshop and I reduce them to under 50 Kb's.
As far as too many on one page, this is the first I have heard of this. How many pictures should go on one page ?
This is a bummer because I worked with all those pictures yesterday to make them right so I could post them "legally".
This combined with some ***** trying to turn posting pictures into a competition at the same time I am trying to put some on here could make this extremely difficulter than it already was.
Doug? Deletion again, I don't mind but I don't want to get rid of everybody elses that are done correctly.

Some people have difficulty loading pages due to the number of posts per page.... an amount that each user can modify in the profile of their control panel. See attached.

BajaNomad - 6-28-2004 at 08:35 AM

Also, the "time to load" for images has to do with image file size (kb) and not image file resolution (width).

As posted all over the place here, please keep attachments under 50kb. Thanks.

Attached is report of sizes of what's already here.

Thanks,

I didn't either, but that is almost what happened. That shot is from the road between Laguna (Not Anymore!) Hanson and La Rumorosa.

This guy approached us in a pick-up and explains that we should be careful because some cowboys are coming down the road with cattle and we could spook them by driving too fast. I assumed that this meant that they were driving a stakebed truck with some bovines in back and that they didn't want us to surprise them and cause them to tip the vehicle. Well, I was the one who got the surprise when we found ourselves in the middle of that!:wow:

jrbaja - 6-28-2004 at 05:52 PM

If you look through the palapa in the first pic I put up, you will appreciate the telephoto technology of the Fuji Camera in the second.

And last but by no means least, Mario and the Fish Taco for Lunch Bunch. These guys are the ones protecting the reefs around Cabo Pulmo. Good dudes to be sure!

Can't resist posting another one...

I hope this picture thing keeps up. Really good stuff!

What incredible shots. Wish I were there in every single one of them (instead of stuck in Memphis on the @#*&%!! business trip from hell!). Thank God for you guys, your cameras and this board. A real morale booster, and much appreciated.

I "AM" working...working so that I can use up some of my 60 days paid vacation.!! I work for a highly profitable "electric company"...that was on the verge of bankruptcy 2 years ago. I've been here a long time and it is just about time to "pull the plug"!!! It would be nice to get to meet you some day. We both have something in common....a Love and respect for the beautiful land of Baja. Take care and please keep the pictures coming so that I can, someday soon, sit in the exact spot where you took the pictures at!!! Baja Red
