Permits in Assuncion

bajaponderosa - 9-26-2009 at 02:03 PM

Has anyone been asked for a permit to fish in the waters off of Assuncion?
I am planning on bringing my boat to Assuncion in Oct. but if it means having it confiscated I will just have to go and fish somewhere else.
It is just like the Mexican Goverment to take away your cake just when you were enjoying the frosting.
So much for the recreational fisherman.

How about just getting a fishing license :?:

People have been asked for their fishing licenses but no one (except us who are charter operators) have been asked for a boat permit...but you may be asked to show your bracelet although I havent heard of anybody being checked yet.

When I talked to the fisheries...they said they have the option to just give a warning...but for example if they catch you with more fish than your limit, or some contraband like lobster or abalone, they can fine you or confiscate gear but that is in extreme cases.

I cant say you will not be checked ever...but nobody has yet here.
But as the boat permit thing is under revision...you wont need it yet.

Thanks for the info, we are as legal as you can get as far as having the required fishing licenses for each person in the boat. So will be there in Oct. and give it a try. Thanks
