South Dakota???

Thanks for the responses about leaving a car in San Felipe. Many Nomads have mentioned registering the car in South Dakota. Why? Is there an advantage to that over just registering the car every year here in Washington? What secret do you all know that I need to know:?:?

Click on this site and read all about how, when, where, and why.

Good luck.

In my opinion, the main reasons are - no US insurance required while vehicle is not used on US highways, and no periodic smog checks. Residence in SD not required for vehicle registration only.

If you drive to Washington every year there is no reason to change.

WA Registration vs S.D.

HI there; I have my car registerd in WA also. The following link will advise you about avoiding the smog check. (Unless you are in a WA county that does not require it) I have been registering my car on line for the last 5 years with no problem, but if I ever have one, I'll go the S.D. route. I also renewed my WA Drivers License this year on line as well, but no "photo".
