My guess is that he was leaving last night and that was as far as he got.

Does that place has a "Truth in Advertising" issue?
I would bet there are no Virgins and no Gentlemen

We're not into the bars much but many a meal and Bloody Mary have been consumed at La Fonda. This photo was taken in August.

sanfelipebob - 10-3-2009 at 08:04 PM

How about including best of the 60s and 70s.... Rauls , Hussongs, Chuy's ,of Ensenada and Bar Miramar, El puerto of San Felipe.................

Sallysouth - 10-3-2009 at 09:10 PM

We like El Rincon in Ensenada .funky, but fun and personal.

Skipjack Joe - 10-3-2009 at 10:46 PM

You better ask Fishbuck to rank them.

I don't know what you linked us to, Bob. Check it out.

Another thing........You get thirty days on the "Wall Of Shame" for misspelling "Sharky's." :P:P:P

Hey Jorge....Remember Sandy F.? She used to write the Roses and Onions article for the Ensenada News And Views.
Anyway, she stopped by the other day and we went over old times there as well as a few other places. I hadn't seen or heard from her in ten years.
It was fun.
Chuy, for those who didn't know him, was one of the South Baja Arce's and owned a bar in Ensenada. A most excellent person.

elgatoloco - 10-4-2009 at 02:43 PM

I remember when Raul's got the first big screen TV in the area WAY back when. We would head over Sunday morning for bloody mary's, breakfast and American football and stay right thru lunch, unless of course there was surf...............

woody with a view - 10-4-2009 at 03:14 PM

first/last time (6 months ago) i got sick in baja was at la fonda (stuffed calamari). the waitstaff is ignorant to real service standards and the prices are ridiculous. i'm not talking about .99 margies, either.

go to poco cielo next door. try the mango margies and support the next wave of service oriented establishments along the north coast....

paris, rincon restaurants?

paul r - 10-4-2009 at 05:11 PM

... where are these located please?

woody with a view - 10-4-2009 at 05:47 PM

rincon = any corner, or north of santa barbara, ca.:light:

DENNIS - 10-4-2009 at 05:53 PM

Paris..... laughlaughlaughlaughlaughlaughlaughlaulauglaughlaughlaughlaughhlaughlaughlaughghlaughlaughlaughlaugh.....

I can't tell you here except it's on Sin Street in Ensenada and Fishbuck's son is checking IDs at the door.

laughlaughlaughlaughlaughlaughlaughlaugh

Martyman - 10-5-2009 at 09:31 AM

My vote is for Hussongs and the herradura margaritas

Sallysouth - 10-5-2009 at 10:05 AM

Paulr, El Rincon is an upstairs bar, located a few doors south of El Rey Sol restaurant. They don't really serve food but there is a great hotdog stand on the sidewalk downstairs, and Junior, the bartender, will have anything foodwise you might want delivered.Live music at nights too!

Actually I lived above the BOOM-BOOM club for 3 semesters. Cheaper than anything in San Diego and you did get all could eat as a bonus:P

Should have included Magana"s, on the old road in La Mision. Great food, local color. Before I got married, I used to hang at Anthony's on Saturdays, Free Ceviche!!! I would not eat anything at Paris!!!!

Bajahowodd - 10-5-2009 at 04:09 PM

Problem is that there were to few to choose from.

But on a bigger note, cantinas in Mexico have historically been bars catering to men only. They were not restaurants. They did not cater to families. I'm thinking that this post was intended for restaurants that had bars.

Too subjective. What does "best" mean? Best what?

Yes. I'm wondering why AB and CC in TJ aren't on the list. Anthonys and Paris Club are.

But this is a family website so we won't go there, so to speak.

There are other websites that thoroughly cover the baja niteclub scene.

Bajahowodd - 10-5-2009 at 04:50 PM

So, maybe the title to this thread was really supposed to be about restaurants.

Because they do have waa-chee-chee-lango or red snapper and they do serve it up nightly!

AB Las Chavelas CC HKC didnt make the list sorry- too many chances of sequestro!

The Only Authentic Cantina!!........The true ambieance would be one where there was a group of strong adventerous young females painted up with cheap bright red lipstick and getting hammered in the early afternoons on cheap Tequilla, with loud marriochi music and and a definate stench of old septic odor, bleach, and stale beer. ++C++

That would be any one of most joints on Miramar Street in Ensenada.
Love that place.
