I was lamenting my total inability to grow "muņecas" in our mostly clay soil when I came across this cute visitor hanging out on the last few leaves of the soon to be dead plant.

Nice shot of the mantis. Can't tell how big it is but it looks large, mature. Since I learned that the females have the very nasty habit of decapitating the males during or right after mating (instead of a cigarette I suppose) I can't help but be curious about that sort of thing when I encounter a large, old male. I'll also suppose the female does that thing so the male won't have a chance to eat the hatch later on. I'm also guessing that the large males are gay or very clever, quick professional womanizers -- that would be mantisizers. It's all guesswork. Everything is for me.

We had this cute little baby come a callin late yesterday afternoon:

Unfortunately, after catching it successfully and my security guard taking it off over the hill and letting it go, about an hour later I had a huge sniff of it in the air as my dog ran by with it dangling from it's mouth. Poor little thing! BAD DOG!

what the heck is that? a chipmunk, squirrel type thing??? way cute.

Our guest fishermen at the beach house thought I had a trained roadrunner when they looked up and saw one perched on their computer and then he flew over and hung out on top of the coffee maker for awhile!!

HaciendaCerritos,

Western Spotted Skunk

If it stands on it's front legs, move, fast!

If you look up Mexican Skunk on Google you will find pictures of other Mexican species of flora and fauna that stink.

:lol::lol: Do you remember several years back, there was a short lived Nike commercial that showed a male mantis wearing tiny little Nike shoes, running for his life along a branch. It was really funny, but did not last long---not sure people understood why he was running.

Love the photos of all the visiting creatures----nice, very nice.
