Official's body found hanging from Tijuana bridge - Overblown coverage? Nope.

Woooosh - 10-10-2009 at 10:34 AM

So is this piece of todays news over-inflated, sensationalized, or just the way things are in reality today?

Actually, it was edited from the UT print version to make it LESS sensational.

The print version had thess additions ommitted from the on-line version:

"Sanchez's body was found hanging from the Morelio bridge at 5:30 a.m. His head was covered by white bandages bound with duct tape, and his body showed signs of torture, including castration."

and

"The slaying appears to be not only a challenge to the Mexican army and to local, state and federal police forces, but also a message to residents. Thousands of people pass the bridge every morning on their way to school or work."

Even that version is edited. In the Spanish versions they are more explicit. He was castrated and his member shoved into his mouth. The side comments from the readers say that they think he gave the current photo of "El Teo" which appears on the cover of this week's Zeta magazine to them and he was punished for that. Just chismes right now.

There you go. Even the english and spanish versions are different. I did wonder who was going to pay the price for that cover photo of Teo.

Los Zetas otra vez blood thirsty cabrones I hope they all die an evil death!

DENNIS - 10-10-2009 at 11:19 AM

I thought the Zetas were conected with the Gulf Cartel.

Yep

Think that's what it's all about.. Sinaloa vs Gulf

Zeta Magazine, published in Tijuana, and "Los Zetas" are unrelated groups. Zeta Magazine is one of the few Mexican publications that "tells it like it is", at no small risk to its writers and publisher, that last one of which was assassinated.

Bajahowodd - 10-10-2009 at 12:21 PM

Thanks for the clarification. And all the time I thought Zeta Magazine was to the Zetas as Elks Magazine was to the BPOE.:P

You forgot this part of the story..
TIJUANA, Mexico — The mutilated body of a state official who authorities said was suspected of giving fake driver's licenses to drug gang members was found hanging from a bridge Friday in the Mexican border city of Tijuana.
Relatives identified the man as Rogelio Sanchez, a Baja California state official in charge of driver's licenses, said Prisma Perez, a spokeswoman for the state Attorney General's Office. Sanchez, 44, was kidnapped Wednesday as he left his home in Tijuana.
"The investigation indicates he had been giving licenses to organized crime," Perez said

Bajahowodd - 10-10-2009 at 01:30 PM

noproblemo2- I forgot about the matter of the fake licenses. Certainly puts a different spin on the story, no?

Don't you mean the first one, or a partner? Hector Felix [Miranda ?]. I won't get into the Hank connection.
Blancornelas almost lost his life more than once. What a guy. Huge huevos. I think he died of natural causes, not lead poisening.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. [I know you will anyway]

Héctor Félix Miranda, Blancornelas' partner and co-founder was murdered. They ultimately pinned that on two of Hank Rhon's bodyguards. An editor of Zeta, Francisco Ortiz Franco, was also murdered. I think Blancornelas is surrounded by cops and soldiers 24/7.

Bajahowodd - 10-10-2009 at 04:14 PM

Their assignment appears to be over.

Woooosh - 10-11-2009 at 02:58 PM

They hung him from that bridge because so many people use it. If Teo starts executing and exposing every crooked offical in TJ they will need to build more bridges.

Los Zetas are mortal enemies of Teo's organization. And they have their own cartel, they don't work for anybody. This drug war has two sides: The Arellano Felix, Juarez, Zetas, and Beltran Leyva Organizations. And the Sinaloa gang, to wich Teo belongs.

BAJACAT - 10-11-2009 at 04:11 PM

yes this road is used alot it's the toll free Tijuana-Rosarito, if you go east from this bridge you will end up in La cinco y diez and otay if you go west you will end up in Playas de Tijuana or even San isydro Border crossing..
It's funny how things work out, Teo used to work for the AFC, and then they order him death, the hitman sent to kill him let him go and on a later mitting with th AFC he was shot in the head for not obeying his superiors orders. So now Teo is sworn enemy of the Arellano..

Woooosh - 10-11-2009 at 08:10 PM

Teo never follows through. A few months back he started to kill a cop a week until the asst. chief of police resigned. That last a few weeks. Then he moves onto something else. These guys have no plan. I think they just wing it. The mafia had a game plan AND a rule book.

I think you guys love the italian mafia because of hollywood romanticising it. Are you guys aware that the hollywood version of mafia is not reality?

Are you guys saying that italiab mafia is OK to accept in society? If so, you are friggin nuts.

I was over-simply making the point that although both the Mafia and Narcos are both reprehensible- at least the mafia generally dealt man-to-man and didn't involve women, children or threaten the whole community with their tantrums and antics.

This takes the story off in a whole new direction.

Quote:

I had the pleasure of knowing Rogelio Sanchez Jimenez, and its unfair that I have to not only read false publications about him, but unfair comments about him as well. Rogelio was a state official in charge of licences. He was of the few honest and humble men that were left in the Mexican government. A state government spokeswoman, made a statement saying that he was linked to the investigation of issuing fake licenses. She managed to leave out that while Rogelio was on his vacation her brother who also worked in that department, issued the fake licenses. At his return he discovered them and cancelled them. She failed to mention that her brothed fled to the United States. Unfortunately, journalist are twisting words around and are not reporting the truth. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Rogelio knows that he by no means was wealthy. He was a humble and a hard working man. Its unfortunate that people believe publications that are written poorly and lack the truth.

Never meant to "romanticize" the mafia - I just agree that the mafia seemed to be much more disciplined in general as to what they did and who was affected than the current narco mob running around today.
