It is a beauty----check u2u again and be sure to send them full size.

k-rico - 10-16-2009 at 08:33 AM

That's the real deal! I'm driving from TJ to Mulege in a couple of days. I'll keep my eyes peeled. I'm wondering if the army guys manning the checkpoints can be alerted and be on the look out. Have you looked into that?

bajaguy - 10-16-2009 at 09:17 AM

Make up a flyer in Spanish on one side and English on the other......add some different view color photos....post at all PEMEX, police stations, stores and hand out at military checkpoints. Publicity will either develop leads on your Toyota or the crooks will abandon the vehicle

Crusoe - 10-16-2009 at 11:56 AM

Old FJ 40s command a top dollar here in Wash. State. What state are the plates displayed on her? They are an easy vehicle to spot. Good Luck! ++C++

BooJumMan - 10-16-2009 at 02:51 PM

Wow! Very nice looking FJ! Hard top too! I'm very jealous. I REALLY REALLY hope you get it back. I am assuming you've been to www.ih8mud.com? You might want to try posting a bunch of information on it just incase it makes its way back into the states.

Hope this is not in bad taste, but here is my 1966 Fj40. I am a lover of FJ's so I feel your pain.Just rebuilt the original F1 motor last year. Runs like a champ after all these years... Don't mean to highjack your thread.

aldosalato - 10-16-2009 at 05:17 PM

Just saw it in La Paz at 5pm on Colosio turning into Forjadores going towards the University. I was driving my kids to play soccer just behind them. Three young guys in their 20s onboard. I stopped at TRANSITO police on Forjadores and tried to point the truck to to the police. Problem is the police was sooooooo sloooooowwww that first they wanted me to describe the truck , give them the plates (that I remembered only the first 3 letters) so doubt they moved their ass to stop the truck down the road. Anyway the people that stole the truck seem pretty dumb driving around in La Paz with such a rare vehicle that you should have a good chance to get it back.

GOOD JOB ALDO!

BooJumMan - 10-16-2009 at 07:14 PM

WOW!! That is unbelievable. Hope they catch 'em soon.

Iflyfish - 10-17-2009 at 08:49 AM

Way to go Aldo!

ElFaro - 10-18-2009 at 12:14 PM

I own an '87 FJ-60 (2F engine)...the last year of stick shift and carburetion.

We who own Landcruisers know they are on a level all their own above the other Toyota trucks.

It hurts when another Cruiser owner loses theirs.

Is there a way for you to make it to La Paz and ID your Cruiser ?

BTW...we who are Cruiser owners should get together for a "Cruiser only" Baja trip.

BAJACAT - 10-19-2009 at 07:48 PM

Any word yet on the FJ 40? ++C++

aldosalato - 10-21-2009 at 09:33 AM

It is now parked on corner of Victoria and Madero in La Paz Esterito area near Malecon . It has solar panel and a TV in it. I need somebody to call urgent NOW at my phone and tell me what to do 612-1057349.
Did you report it already with police?

bajaguy - 10-21-2009 at 09:37 AM

Let the air out of one of the tires and call the police

El Camote - 10-21-2009 at 09:42 AM

Have to wonder what would happen if the owner just jumped in and drove off with it, bypassing the policia. Would love to see the faces on the thieves when they realized their stolen vehicle was restolen, so to speak! :bounce:

[Edited on 10-21-2009 by El Camote]

OMG!!!!

todostim - 10-21-2009 at 10:53 AM

Nomads-this is truly amazing.
Due to the watchful eye of Aldo... he found the Landcruiser parked on the street this morning in La Paz. The police came and have taken it to their yard. I cannot thank all of you enough who have been keeping a lookout for it.
I didn't think we'd ever see it again.
We Nomads truly have a great network of amigos.
Gracias por todo.

pacside - 10-21-2009 at 10:58 AM

Super....just SUPER.

Good work to aldosalato and whoever else assisted in the recovery behind the scenes.

DENNIS - 10-21-2009 at 12:11 PM

Absolutly great, Tim. I'm gonna do a box of Pacifico to celebrate. I'll do another one in appreciation of Aldo's fine work.
SALUD

comitan - 10-21-2009 at 12:17 PM

todostim Now the jeep will be in a impound yard and you will have to pay a daily rate so would be important to get it out of there as quickly as possible. Also for other reasons!

BajaGeoff - 10-21-2009 at 01:01 PM

Yeah Nomads! That is excellent!

Skipjack Joe - 10-21-2009 at 01:06 PM

I'm really happy for you todostim. You are one lucky guy!

aldosalato - 10-21-2009 at 02:20 PM

I passed by at 2.45pm and the car was still at corner of victoria and madero. A policeman waiting in the area had alredy stopped one person trying to enter into the car. One more was chased by the police while trying to escape on another car. Policeman is waiting the tow truck now.............

slimshady - 10-21-2009 at 06:57 PM

Shame on those folks that refer to a FJ40 as a "Jeep". It's a Landcruiser, anyway great job Aldo! Way to look out for each other. I hope the bad guys get their asses beat.

shari - 10-21-2009 at 07:11 PM

ORALE ALDO!!! pues...que buena onda compa...bien trabajo....way too cool...I LOVE this sandbox when good things happen:spingrin:
