How to PREVENT your vehicle from being stolen in Baja

Does 200 pounds of dogs (2) count as security ??
It's always worked for me; and not being silly about where I travel and park.

my 5# rescue chihuahua doesn't scare many people, even though his name is Brutus!:lol::lol: ......so I want to learn more about installing kill switches!:?::?::?::?:

You need a chihuahua that weighs 100 lbs; not one that just thinks he weighs 100 lbs !

You should also consider an english-speaking dog.
Those chihuahuas can speak spanish so they can be charmed by local banditos !

I assume some of these kill switches are remote controlled so you can casually disarm the system without letting anyone see where your switch is located ??
And a manual "on" swich in case you lose your remote ?

Google that. There's a ton of info.

How about a kill switch for a yappy chihuahua? My daughter has two and I hate the little ankle biters. She asked how I liked them, I told her "the old fashioned way" rotisserie with chipotle please.

Thanks for the great tip. Do you have any info on preventing thieves from towing your car/truck?

TIA

Hey I voted for Palin also. I've decided not to register my vehicle anymore and I'm going to do the right thing and get some cheap mexican insurance from bernies showing the minimum amout of crossings per year;D

Kill switches work.

A dog in a vehicle overnight is an excellent security device but only if it barks when some approaches.

My 1st kill switch is integrated into the instrument panel. It arms automatically when I turn off the car.

To start, I put the key in the ignition and turn it to accessory, and then initiate something that ''ungrounds'' the ignition. An example of this might be a car that needs to have the dome light on before the ignition will turn on. The possibilities are endless.

Short of having my car towed by a thief, and I realize that that is always a possibility, I believe I've cut my chances of it being stolen by a large percentage.

My 2nd kill switch is a toggle switch that is so inaccessible that I sometimes have problems finding it.

I remember a cheap way to stop a car from being stolen was to remove the main distributor wire. I don't know what's possible any more. Car's with computers are a different ball game.

Here's a foolproof way to keep your car from getting stolen in Baja:

Convince your buddy to drive.

I'm too old to do a bunch of switches. I had Revelco install an anti theft system. More money but easy to activate.

I know someone (a non-smoker) that (20+ years ago) used their vehicle's cigarette lighter as the kill "switch" activator. I thought that was pretty simple and slick.

Another approach is to hide a "SPOT" locator in the car, hardwired to the 12v system. That way if it does get stolen, you just check your computer, get the police to follow you to the location where it is, recover the car and arrest the theives.
