Mexican marines criticized for shootings (4 Rosarito youths)

Woooosh - 10-17-2009 at 03:50 PM

This incident happened where the toll road makes the sharp bend to the left entering Rosarito Beach. The local news has been all over this all week, and the locals aren't happy about it. 6 days later the UT chimes in- Front page center of today's edition.

In a nutshell... the four youths were off-roading near the cutoa at the same time an armed narco convoy of 10 vehicles was reported to be headed north through Rosarito. Bad timing. These kids thought the police were just chasing them off the lot as usual- when the Marines opened fire and shot them all. The kids even held their arms up and the Marines kept shooting. None died.

(I know, I know... a San Diego cop shot a "somewhat" innocent lady to death when she was trying to help them stop a car thief a few days ago...)

A My Lai shooting frenzy revisited. Nothing will happen subsequent to this. The military was in line to "full on." That's what they did.

Kids on the scooters...bad time in a bad place. What a shame.

If after instances such as this, people don't believe this place is a war zone.......well, they arn't paying attention.

I was trying to imagine what an armed narco convoy of ten vehocles looks like going through the toll plaza. Do they all stop, smile chat and pay.. or do they just blow through it?

Yeah...What a croc of crap. If they new they were coming, they had to know where they were coming from.

YOU JUST CANNOT MAKE THIS STUFF UP!

This is a screenshot of the first page of today's El Sol de Tijuana.

On the left hand side is the picture and story of a hoodlum who was killed today in a shootout at the interesection of the 5 and 10, along with a TJ policeman. On the upper right is a picture of the nude and tortured body of a 50-55 year old man found hanging by a cable from a bridge over Blvd. 2000 this morning. Just below that is an article that says the governor of Baja and the Mayor of Tijuana will travel to Washington, along with the US Ambassador to Mexico, Carlos Pascual, to ask U.S. authorities remove the US State Dept. travel alert that exists for tourists traveling to Tijuana.

yeah. Lately all the grisly stuff has been confined to spanish newspapers. I guess rather than criticize theUS media- they decided to totally shut them out. I'll bet dollars to donuts that none of these three events (all on major roads tourists use daily) was mentioned in the english Rosarito rag.

It is mind boggling that a convoy of narcos in black SUV's could vanish from the cuota with everyone having cell phones these days (even Mexicans). And how could a black SUV convoy become a single white SUV offroading?

The real story is as others have opined- well orchestrated crime operating out in the open between Puerto Nuevo and Rosarito on a Sunday afternoon. Maybe they were just going to the Lobster festival...
