And the pangas pulled from water





Great old tractor



I love old tractors



And all the pelicans, the cormorants, herons and seagulls lined up to watch the wave.



One pelican opened his mouth



And not to be outdone, his friend opened his wider

The picture where they are pulling in the panga makes me a little sad. The weekend before last, the village lost two teenage boys right there----the typical killer of young boys---drinking and driving.

Unfortunately, I did not have my telephoto lens with me so that is already a pretty tight crop---I may try to crop more.

It was strange---they were not feeding but they still kept throwing their heads back and looked like they were swallowing.

I appreciate your pictures of life in Asuncion. Somehow I have not seen the pier. It sure is taking a pounding. Do people fish off that pier?

Mrsfish reminds me that we came ashore near that pier, I may have been preoccupied with my yellowtail at the time.

Do folks fish off that pier?

Your pictures are super. Please tell us what you camera is and which lenses you used. I would also love to get the EXIF data for the shots....aperture, time, ISO, AF settings etc.

I am an increasingly serious Baja nature photographer. I use a Canon EOS 50D and a bunch of "L" Canon lenses. Gonna get a new 7D one of these days.

And it was quite a yellowtail you caught. You will appreciate this. A couple of days ago, the teenage son of a local here paddled out from that launching area---he and a friend in a small dingy. They were VERY close to shore and he caught a 20 kilo yellowtail with a spoon lure and on 40 lb test line!

Paula, I love Ken's tractor and it may be a man's tractor, but you are right about this tractor. With those colors it had to be designed by a woman! It really is beautiful and look at how clean and loved it is.

Ken, that is a great old tractor. Don't know why, but old tractors just have a special quality about them.

You flatter me with these questions. This is quite a new hobby for me and I am really learning as I go, and go broke with my wish lists. :biggrin: It sounds like you have more equipment than I do---but here goes

I have a Canon 40D----have thought about wanting a full frame model, but that has to be well into the future.

Right now my best lens is my 70/200 f2.8 IS lens and with it, I often use a 1.4 extender or for macro shots, an extension tube.

My other lens---the one used in these photos is a 17-55 f2.8 IS lens that is considered an L lens in quality, but is not white because it can only be used on crop cameras, not on full frame like the 7D. For the bird photos, I wished I had had my 7/200 with me, but it was at home.

It was the middle of the day so I used a polarizer lens---a cheaper one that needs replacing. Also, I did have to tweak them in photoshop. I do not have the full version, just Elements 7.

I am still learning about all the settings and experiment a lot. Like most experiments, most of the results are thrown away. These were mainly shot with ISO 100 and using AV settings of 5.6 to 11. I did not play with the exposure, thus needed to adjust in photoshop and with a few, I added a warming filter in photoshop.

yes, great pictures! HOWEVER, having never been there is doesn't look like to much "surge".

Thanks Woody. I have seen it bigger. But this is more what that pier usually looks like-----more fisher people than usual as it was the fishing tournament.
