BIG Police Activity in Cantamar Tonight

Gypsy Jan - 10-20-2009 at 11:39 PM

Heading home from the U.S. errand running stuff today, we were just passing Puerto Nuevo at nine p.m., when at least thirty police cars passed us with lights, but no sirens - the convoy was made up of Rosarito police sedans, the pickup trucks that have the sparkle lights and Policia Federal black and whites.

They all congregated about 100 feet north of Ruben's Palm Grill, blockading the southbound traffic on the free road and everyone piled out with weapons drawn.

We waited about fifteen minutes, then they opened up a passageway on the east side and motioned the waiting vehicles through.

All we could see in our very brief glimpse of the focus of interest was a dark. nondescript van/SUV, all the doors opened and some civilians standing outside by the vehicle.

Does anybody know anything more?

JESSE - 10-21-2009 at 12:36 AM

If its Rosarito Police. Nobody is getting arrested.

noproblemo2 - 10-21-2009 at 05:17 AM

Jan, that's scary, keep us posted. Glad you weren't caught in any crossfire... Think we'll stick to not driving at night..

bajabound2005 - 10-21-2009 at 06:28 AM

Might this be it?
(from El Mexicano)

It wasn't that. There was a gun battle between Rosarito police and bad guys yesterday evening. Two cops wounded.

SDRonni - 10-21-2009 at 07:30 AM

Any translation for this article, please?

DENNIS - 10-21-2009 at 07:45 AM

This is how Google translated the article:
-----------------------------

PLAYAS DE ROSARITO .- The operational commander of the Municipal Police, Fernando Gomez Martinez and Crown Agent Jose Alfredo Correa, were offered to the delegation of the RMP, after they escaped the facility chief's bodyguards former Mayor Jorge Hank Rhon, Jorge Vera Ayala was arrested in this town along with three companions.

This was reported yesterday at a press conference the Municipal Public Security Minister, Jorge Eduardo Montero Alvarez, who confirmed that the bodyguards were collected from four .223 caliber rifles and four 9mm pistols.

He said that the arrest of Ayala Vera and the other three bodyguards was derived from a telephone call received at the C-4, which reported the presence of a police van with strobes and siren heading from north to south speeding.

He said at the time was located and stopped the vehicle, three of the occupants identified themselves as police officers in Tijuana Commercial, while the head of them pulled out a badge from the state police in Mexico.

Montero Alvarez, said he contacted the commanders of the police unit in Tijuana where he reported that the document showed the agents were authorized only the carrying of weapons with jurisdiction in Tijuana.

As regards Jorge Vera Ayala, who identified himself as stressed police officer of the State of Mexico and that the document also had authorized him to carry arms in the republic, as doubts arose.

He stated that also spoke with one of the commanders of the Second Military Zone that recommended that the four escorts were sent to the facilities of the PGR, who offered no resistance and was assigned to operational commander Fernando Gomez Martinez moved that the six officers under his command.

He commented that arrived without any mishap to Tijuana and already in the delegation, at the time were given as appearing before a Federal prosecutor, Vera Ayala escaped them without them realizing it, which he attributed to lack experience of the man in command.

He stated that the legal status of the operational commander and the other police officer shall be determined by the PGR, while the arms of the bodyguards were in receipt of competent authority.

Jan....Are you privy to info of illicit activities that you're unable to discuss here?
Is your knowledge hearsay or do you really know?
If you can't speak of it, does it make you wonder why you alluded to it here?
I hate that. When somebody starts to say something, then says they can't talk about it.
Oh, well.....thanks anyway, Jan.

Fair Enough Question, Dennis

Gypsy Jan - 10-22-2009 at 05:42 PM

When I originally posted, I was an eyewitness to the event and I was seeking more information that was "out there" in a general more wide release, news report kind of way.

Since then, I have heard from "a friend of a friend" that there was no arrest made, just as Jesse predicted.

The problem is that, as has been noted here before, this board is read by a wide population, some friendly Nomads and some monitoring this board for info for their own purposes.

In good conscience, I can't post any more details because I can't be sure that it will not bring harm to others.

You need stinking badges here

Ok, I'll take a stab:

Van full of cops (3 guys) from T.J. were speeding through Rosarito Beach, with there lights and sirens on.

When stopped by the local police in Rosarito to find out "who are those guys" They, the locals find these guys are not from here and did not like their badges. Seems their badges are from T.J. and they are now in Rosarito. The badges from T.J. are only good in T.J. to drive fast with their lights and sirens on and having enough firepower to do some serious damage.

They sent them to another place out of the Jurisdiction of both, PGR so they can be put on extrat duty for being really stupid then quietly released after review of the “facts”. The can always go back to the armory for more wepons.

Maybe they won’t go fast next time…but then it wouldn’t be the same with the lights and siren on.

Shades of Barney Fife.

Uhhh.............yes. References here to her site are usually blocked as she's been big-time banned.

That said, she gives the best up to date reports in English of current crime activity in the north sector available.
She's a nasty piece of stuff but, I appreciate her reports.

Allow me to add that if I ever had occasion to meet her personally, I'll bet I would enjoy that as well.

Yup that's our old gal Margie. Quite the species, that one. She never could keep her story straight or her nose out of other people's business. I will be most glad when she posts a blog item about The Gull. Hi Margie!

Her spouse works the gates at the border, she surfs among the brown twinkies from the TJ outfall that swirl around SADM, they both are in an altered state.

Oh yeah.... She likes you about as much as she likes me.

Her spouse, Mike?, cleans toilets at the facility. The only time he gets close to the gate is to scoop vomit from the asphalt in secondary when a drunk is apprehended.
He's a big part of Homeland Security.:lol:

I feel like I've walked into a very bad HOA meeting that had an open bar first.

I did find that Maggie Blog after a google search. I don't have knowledge of any other "news source" like that. At least she prints in English what is going on. I can't judge the running commentary and anti-Nomad sentiments as I have no historical framework. That's ok, I like reading what's happening around Rosarito in English and can skip the ugly parts.

Has anyone been to No Bad Days of late? Is it still in business?

and NO... I made an observation, that I realized after posting, sounded a little harsh. Never expected that I would warrent days of hateful and profane posts on her part.

But it did kind of freak me out for a few days when she said:

"I hope your entire family gets totally wiped out by a drunk American driving around with no US passport, no license and no registered vehicle"

Brutal and sick

Probably so, when taken out of context. I didn't see that on her blog but, it had to have background that you failed to mention.
I follow her posts and I'm one of her least favorite people. That said, she's one of the best sources of English language crime reportage in the area. Take it or leave it.

"Yes I am the Gringa Gal."

AwwwSooo. It's you. Man O Man..she does not like you either. Great fun...ain't it? I owe noproblemo an apology cause the bich in question had her pegged for being you. Oh well again....

Who's Fulano, someone asks...... Well, I think you would do well to ask Arrowhead here. They're one and the same.
Your next quest will be to ask, "Who is Arrowhead?"
Don't ask me....Ask her.
