Old LaPaz Malecon Pictures

Ricardo - 10-22-2009 at 04:05 PM

Hi I'm looking for a picture of the Old Malecon in LaPaz, I seem to have misplaced all my old photos and would like one I could download for My picture library.
Thanks Rick

How old? Here is one from the 1956 edition of The Lower California Guidebook by Gerhard & Gulick:

Nice Picture DK I'm sorta looking for one with the concrete sidewalk with the purple rocks in the diamond pattern. The one before the present Malecon. I'm not that old.

Use Nomad Search for more... Here are three posts from 2007 on the La Paz Malecon:

Ferna posted a lot of even older photos: http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=25817 and http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=25815

They are great...

Natalie Ann posted photos of the statues, here: http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=23568

Sure do wish I could find Carta Blanca for sale in Baja. Used to be THE beer! My favorite! :bounce:
Only place I can find it is Food-4-Less in San Diego, and that's the weak "export" version.
Any eagle-eyed Nomads???

Sorry 'bout it, but as far as I know, there has only been one version for a number of years. Mexico cut the alcohol content of all major beers. Usually menos de 5 %. Not like in the old days.

Thank you LaTijereta That pattern on the Malecon is what I was looking for, is it OK if I copy them for my Baja Library.

Remember those days. Used to drive to TJ from Sacramento, stay at the Conquistador for $30.00, left the car there, and fly to La Paz for something like $64.00 R/T and stay at the Los Arcos cabanas for $11.00 a night.
Did one bustour with a bunch of fishing buddies to Cabo.
Included breakfast in El Triunfo, lunch in Cabo and a panga trip to Lovers beach, all for $11.00.

Stay away from my stash of Carta Blanca:biggrin:

In Loreto they would deliver 13 cases, when you ordered 12.. I think we drank them out of business.. They closed the store on the corner of Madera.. and today it is a Tecate store.
