Left Over Marine Layer on the Mountains

Just south of Punta Prieta on the Coast Road --- a lonely and peaceful scene we enjoyed. We love to drive down that road.

They always are better in person---just being there and hearing the quiet surrounded by a beautiful landscape is wonderful.

Dennis, you certainly are not daring capt. mike are you?

capt. mike - 10-24-2009 at 01:35 PM

well....i hope never to do that.
at least never in a plane that is working fine and not forced to hunt for a safe let down.

more than a few since 1903 have scud run themselves into a cloud and smacked an embedded rock. not a pretty sight but a painless way to go since it's instantaneous...:O

I have no idea what it is. Those mountains are not quite as close as they look---I had my telephoto lens on my camera. But it does look like a well defined track.

What can happen to a pilot when you "scud run".....

Yes, it is close by----I really do not know exactly how close, maybe about 15 miles south---didn't use a GPS :-) Just saw a pretty sight and yelled stop.

It is a little over 60 miles from BA to Abreojos along that road. There are parts where you can drive on the salt flats---nice and smooth, and the part from BA to San Hipolito is, as usual, in quite good shape. North of La Bocana, there is some not fun washboard.

However, we love that drive----miles and miles of deserted desert and beach. You want a private beach---no problem.

Also, just a couple miles south of here is the turn off to Punta Choros---the local popular surf beach. The sign is still up for the turn-off---a beat up surf board attached to an old tire. If you saw my pictures of the sand dunes, that gives you an idea how soft it is out my Punta Choros. Today, enough small surf left in front of our house for the kids to surf.

Temps? We don't keep track officially---just by feel. Water is very warm, daytime temps are mild on the warm side, but not hot, afternoon wind is not strong today, night time has been very comfortable. But it also changes on a a day to day basis.

wow i can't believe how they were laughing about it at the end once on the ground.

what idiots!
they should have pummeled that pilot once they landed, he deserves an arse whooping for that stunt.

the FAA should pull his ticket - he violated several FARs and almost killed everyone.

Thanks Diane..

It's really hard in this day and age to find some place that when you turn off the motor... it's just plain quite, which is a sound in it's self.

And to be able to add to it with being out there and there is NO ONE around... that's special

Thanks for letting me think about it, maybe one day we can make it down south

Just getting my legs back after a long, long, long time and wish to use the time to get out and see that :):)

Muchas gracias, I a happy you like it. The spot probably looks different because of the telephoto lens---the mountains are further away than they appear. As you know, it is a great drive.

Wessongroup, if you want real peace and quiet with only the sounds of waves and or birds, this part of Baja has a lot of that. Even in town the sound of an airplane is cause to go outside and look to see what it is.
