The One-Eyed Deaf Dog at the Gate

Gypsy Jan - 10-23-2009 at 09:26 PM

So, I came back home and he was standing at the gate, waiting for me but, as I drove up, he had given up and started to walk away because he didn't know I was back.

He figured it out when the other dogs came racing up and he could sense their body language and excitement.

As always, he forgives me for any disappointments.

My cat, both sighted and hearing, could give a crap when I get home, as long as the bowl is full. Ya gotta love dogs!

That's beautiful, Gypsy Jan. Poetry! My old, deaf, blind dog loves me too! They are so loyal and loving.

My neighbor had a dog with no legs. I asked him what the little guy's name was and he told me he didn't have a name. "I figured if I called him, he couldn't come."

In many ways our 4 legger kids are often better than the 2 leggers, they eat less, they don't talk back, they don't ask for money all the time, Normally come when called, don't hang out with drug using friends, don't smoke or drink, don't have to have the latest fashions/fads, you don't need a "gazillion" dollars for their college and if they have kids we can sell em.

He is one lucky dog to have you.

When our last dog lost her hearing, she quickly adjusted to hand signals. And to make sure we did not come home without her knowing, she would lay right in front of the front door so we had to push her out of the way to open the door.

I do believe they adjust to these challenges far better than us humans.

Would love to see a photo of your pack.
