DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME ENDS TONIGHT IN MEXICO

bajabound2005 - 10-24-2009 at 04:07 PM

Just a friendly reminder to everyone that we go back one hour tonight in Mexico in those locations that observe Daylight Saving Time. The US/Canada don't change until next week (Nov 1).

Thanks---I had forgotten all about it.

BB05, thanks for reminder. Would have missed it.
Woody, thanks for your plumbing health update. Could be a new time gauge, like 3 moons, 6 sleeps,....

And did you know that Baja California is the only state in these United States that is on Pacific Time?

Yes, but I wish we were. The change happens at the border and since we are just south of the border and stick way out into the Pacific, when daylight savings time hits it seems like it will never get dark----feels like we are in Montana in the other United States.

During daylight savings time, if one really wants to become confused, drive through Arizona. Arizona does not have daylight savings time, but the Navajo Nation in Arizona does, but the Hopi Nation in the middle of the Navajo Nation does not. Difficult to know what time it is.

Be careful of changing the time on the computer. Last year I changed it and then when the United States----the United States north of these United States---went off of daylight savings time later, my computer changed automatically. Had to change it again.

Not baja north, Baja California is the only state on Pacific Time.
Baja California Sur is on Mountain Time.

Remember, all you baseball fans, if you want to watch the Angels / Yankees game today, it's on an hour earlier than the advertised time. I think it starts around 8:00 PM, New York time. That would be 4:00 at my house.
Is that right? Now, I'm confused. Oh well, I'll just drink mass quantities of Pacifico today [just like yesterday] and read about the game tomorrow in the sports page.

Well, we are listening to the Chargers and that was confusing. It started at 10 am PST and we are on Mountain time down here---but right now it is the same as PST in San Diego----but not the same as PST in Baja.

OH well, the way they have been doing lately---grr, but they did just score a touchdown!.

Now what time will the Yankee/Angels game start here???

Start time in NY is 8:20. That would be 5:20 for youse guys down there.

bigmike - 10-25-2009 at 02:08 PM

If you click on the time on your computer, you then click on time zone and pick Tijuana, then check the box to change to daylight savings time automatically, then you don't need to change it manually.

Bajahowodd - 10-25-2009 at 02:15 PM

Maybe I'm just being cranky, but it seems to me that although it once was a single state, there are two states on the Baja peninsula. There is Baja California, and Baja California Sur. One should really not need to refer to Norte when speaking about BC. Must be the time change.

Nope. Actually, I can't handle it two days in a row. Mostly never could.

Can't believe 24 replies counting this one on a reminder of the time change. Boy are we bored today.:?:

While it "shouldn't" be necessary to include "Norte" when speaking of the state, we ARE dealing with people who get confused over time changes.
