47 OLD PHOTOS OF LA PAZ, PURISIMA, MULEGE, ETC. (BAJA SUR 1902-1964 thanks to 'Salsa')

David K - 10-25-2009 at 01:38 PM

Many are from Howard Gulick taken in the 1950's, most I haven't seen before... a few from much earlier. LA PAZ, SANTA ROSALIA, MULEGE, LA PURISIMA, EL CRUCERO (today's Cd. Constitucion), TODOS SANTOS, CABO SAN LUCAS, SAN JOSE DEL CABO, and more!

Salsa emailed the file of old photos to me to post on Nomad for us all to enjoy, inspired by the Malecon photo request... GRACIAS SALSA!

HERE ARE the first 25 of 47 photos... the rest, just below!

The comparison would be an interesting study. Depressing in some cases but, interesting.

That was fantastic David. I did not recognize the names of some of the locations though. It would be very neat to see AFTER pictures of some of these.
Thanks again.

If a town name wasn't included on the photo, I believe it is a scene in La Paz...

'El Crucero' was an early name for Villa Constitucion, which grew to be called Ciudad Constitucion... there were 2 photos of there in 1957.

If anyone else has great historic photos of Baja, but can't figure how to show them on Nomad... pleas contact me and I will try and help!
