Nice Yellowfin in Asuncion! Fishing Update

shari - 10-26-2009 at 09:02 PM

Today was the perfect fishing day...calm, clear water, no wind, no swell...dolphins and tuna everywhere... so our Nomad fishers set out to catch yellowtail and cabrilla as they caught oodles of tuna a couple days ago.
While jigging for YT, Leo hooked a huge tuna...close to 50 pounds which I will be smoking tomorrow...it was a great day on the water with everyone limiting out.

David and Grumpb on the little tin boat that could also hit the tuna jackpot just off the island.

Most effective is always the right tool for the job. Here we have a Chinese made fish hookah. Makes it easy to keep your tuna lit.

Yes but the big ones still only count as one in your daily limit.....I think....dt

shari - 10-28-2009 at 07:20 AM

OK Vgabndo...shall I put that on my xmas list?
the yellowfin schools here are many but they usually are made up of 15-30 lb fish so Leo's tuna was a big one ....for here...

Fishing update....tuna schools moving around...limit out when ya find em. Yellowtail limits daily on 15-30 lb fish this week...lots of calico...yesterday's anglers released all the huge old growth calicos. rob Knopp has been catching corvina every morning and evening off the beach in front of Campo sirena.

Today is blowing 20 knots and knarly seas...just gonna fish calicos at the island this morning...buoyweather says there's gonna be an 11 foot swell tonight....hmmm....woody...are you responsible for this??

Looks like a seal got a hold of that YT on the left in the last pic.

All nice fish!!!

Looks like we will be there Friday Eve or Sat AM.

Hope the large swell dissapates soon. The wind has been blowing for 3 weeks straight in Central Ca. We had 16' swell at 9 second interval yesterday. Winds up to 40 knots.

Need to go fishing soon!!!!

The best fishing is on nomads. The bait is at Asuncion.
