Its been a month since i converted a chest freezer to a refrigerator, and i am very happy with the results. Energy bills down 20%, less noise, sleep
better at night.
Good idea but your gonna get a sore back bending down all the time. I built a chest type ice box in my Bristol Channel Cutter sailboat. It had a
minimum of 6" insulation and max of 14" 75 lbs of ice would last 2 weeks.Mexicorn - 10-28-2009 at 06:21 PM

Most people only open their refrigerators about a dozen times a day. In the case of our restaurant, we have an upright for daily service, and the
chest freezer is used as regular cold storage.oladulce - 10-28-2009 at 09:01 PM
Jesse, I don't understand the lingo and schematics on that website. Can you dummy it up for me and explain what you need to convert a chest freezer to
a fridge?JESSE - 10-28-2009 at 10:05 PM

Basically, just an external thermostat like this one:
You plug the freezer into the thermostat, and the thermostat to the outlet. You then drill a hole in the freezer so you can put the temperature probe
in it, and thats it. You now have a thermostat that will bypass the freezers factory one.Santiago - 10-29-2009 at 06:20 AM
