What road are you asking about? What does " or where?" mean...?

Hwy. 1 goes to Constitucion, but that is a paved highway traveled by cars, trucks, busses, etc. The 2WD part of the question is what throws a curve here...

I just made a round trip to Mulege over the past couple of weeks and other that some new paving work in progress the road is in as good as shape as it has ever been. The trip was on Mex-1 all the way going south. Going back north bound I turned off Mex 1 and took Mex-3 to Tecate - lot of road construction but traffic moved along well.

Media reports were the hurricane severly damaged Mex 1. So the question(s) are: 1) is the road passable to Constitucion ?, 2) are specific reports available if the road continues as "damaged."

question 2) suggests "damaged" implies the road is in parts, no longer "paved."

Media reports were some bridges were out of service.

The last usually unreliable report heard here was the road would not continue "damaged" as supplies trucked on Mex 1 were necessary for recovery.

Thus the 2WD, LSD, Toyo AT specs as the truck does travel packed sand and slimy mud fairly well but not off course 4WD.

Photos and descriptions of past bridge failures are available: the idea of getting dragged across a wash behind a Mexican Army vehicle is not my idea of a good trip.

Yah, that is so old news... That highway has to carry trucks, busses, autos every day... So a bridge out is fixed within hours... a day or two after the storm at the longest... detours are made as soon as possible... Come and enjoy Baja... (or if you are Canadian: The Baja)!
