While doing some Google Earth "pre-running" for the upcoming Baja 1000 race I notice an object about 1/10 of a mile off the race course around RM 180.
I looks like an white airplane!
The coordinates from my Google Earth for those (David K, Chuck, Rob) that want to check it out are:
31deg33'53.99N
115deg14'15.77W
Strange

Looks like X marks the spot. Could be some sort of marker or something to measure seismic activity since it is by Cerro Prieto
Here is your image

This kind of white reflective marker is typical of an aerial photograph reference point. I have set these out many places in the USA west. they give
reference marks and allow scaling of air photos for mapping purposes. Naturally no one puts money in the budget to take them out afterward.
Way to thin and INTACT to be an aircraft, never the less a good first guess.
Congratulations on the sharp observation Steekers!
If you go by you might find that it is plastic or even butcher paper laid out in a cross.
