... wish me luck
I am ressidentially challenged, have 3 addresses
in play. Also my DL expired last month and since I renewed via mail I don't have the new one yet. Lastly I have no "job", self empolyed.
I am going in armed with more documentation than I needed to buy my house. Bank records, passport, DL, DL renewal paperwork, vehicle registration,
POI, mortgage statement, tax returns, FTB docs, commercial lease, and SBE sellers permit.
Cross fingers please

Buena Suerte! I hope all goes well for you both! Keep us posted.

Unless you live near where the interview is, I would call them ahead of time with what info you have.
I had a current DL, a single address, a job and I had all of my paperwork.
They requested a paycheck stub, which I only get online, nothing in the mail. I printed it out, NOPE, not acceptable. So I also had my W2 and the
guy help up the document and asked me "where on this document does it say W2"
They finally accepted my online paycheck stub, but what a mess.

Bring a box of Pacifico to the interview. It's hot in that building and the interogators love beer.
bajaguy - 11-12-2009 at 08:31 AM
Oh, and as you tote in the beer, please get into the correct line.....you want SENTRI, not SENTRY.....or instead of a card and a vehicle decal, you
might be standing guard duty in a booth at the Otay crossing
alafrontera - 11-12-2009 at 09:39 AM
Oh darn, SENTRI ? I thought it was a job application
Thanks for clearing that up, this changes everything !
bajasammy - 11-12-2009 at 10:01 AM
alafrontera ,
It will be a piece of cake! I think the Tax return worked for me with the self-employed stuff. You used to have to bring duplicate copies of
everything but now they scan all your documents in. The scariest part is the cavity search
(just kidding)...
SeaShell - 11-12-2009 at 10:23 AM
My interviewer thought I was cute (for an old broad) and flirted with me the whole time. Try wearing a wig and a padded bra.
alafrontera - 11-12-2009 at 04:00 PM
Holy Crap, cavity search would have been preferable to what I went through. Man, I guess I really had no idea what to expect, I have never taken a
grilling like that in my life ! I was expecting the hot lightbulb and cigarrette burns at any moment. Sheeesh.
I (foolishly) thought this was about ID and residency. I thought that with a passport and mortgage docs, plus my commercial lease it would be easy.
It's more about money than anything else. Forget documentatin, just take an income and expense report. And then there's;
Why do you want to go to Mexico?
What do you do there?
Who do you see there?
Where do they live?
Where do they work?
How often do you go?
2-1/2 hours ! I passed the pre-interview interview and then the actual interview but still have to wait up to 72 hours for final
approval. Then, if I'm lucky, I get the card in 7-10 days.
Oh and they wouldn't take my vehicle because I don't yet have the hard copy of my current drivers licence. They can access DMV, the guy can see it's
valid, but they want the hard copy. So if I get approved I still have to go back to register the van.
Damn, I need a beer
Bajahowodd - 11-12-2009 at 04:10 PM
That's our gummint folks.
alafrontera - 11-12-2009 at 07:39 PM
I'M IN !!!!!!!!! Just got the approval notification via GOES online.
Now if I could just get my damned passport card ... still dealing with that one.
