Some of you will recall our trip with The squarecircle and Blanche in 2007, and how Baja Angel saw the herd of bighorns walking on the ledge just

I loaded some of the photos onto Photoshop and they may look a lot better than before... one of them was in the 2008 Baja Calendar.
The mission is located in a desert oasis, just west of Gonzaga Bay... like this one on the way in:

Our camp was a mile east of the mission, at the base of a cliff. In the morning we sat around talking after breakfast when Baja Angel looked up and
saw them... we didn't hear a sound!
This was one of the most special Baja trips I have had... Mision Santa Maria is awesome without the Nature surprise... but wow, with it... it's pretty

We saw quite a few Big Horn Sheep on the shores of Lake Mead and more from the upper section of river from Lauphlin to Hoover Dam. They were literally
lining the shore and spotting them was easy plus they never spooked when we went by on our PWC's. Very solid animal.

One of the best... right up there with finding Choral Pepper's lost mission and a big petroglyph site... oh, and being in the Baja 1000... but that
was long ago!
