Asuncion welcomes new family.

shari - 11-13-2009 at 08:12 PM

We extend a warm welcome to Victor and Sandra's family from British Columbia. We had the honour of being present for Victor's 70th birthday party in Asuncion...marking the beginning of a new decade...a new life in baja. The food was divine...shrimp gumbo, yellowtail sushi, ceviche, tamales, margaritas, mango daquiris, tecate...music...fire, laughs with good amigos...what more could one wish for.

We wish them success in their new adventure here and look forward to having them in the village....cant wait to savour the organic veggies!!
Here are some photos of the fiesta complete with live music by Walter and Nancy...check out nancy's newest design of Asuncion pottery...we had fun finding our houses on the plate. And Victors birthday present was a large original painting Of the village by Nancy.

shari - 11-15-2009 at 11:00 AM

thanks Dennis...I had been staring at her... staring off into a baja dream...I'm so glad I snapped the picture...looking at it brings me to that baja place through her eyes (even though I live here... at times we take for granted this paradise we live in)

It also takes me back to when I would see Sirenita with that same gaze at the edge of Ojo de Liebre...after a full day of swimming, camping, visiting whales. Baja through children's eyes would make a neat photo series.

bajafam - 11-15-2009 at 11:23 AM

Shari...thank you so much for capturing the true spirit of Baja through my Bobo's wistful expression. She talks about "Juan's family's home" all the time and "Auntie Shari's kitties and that puppy that I stepped on by accident." How are all those little creatures, btw? Hope everything is wonderful.

shari - 11-15-2009 at 11:45 AM

bobo certainly left her mark on Juan's family home with her paintings...the colourful shells she created...I keep finding things with her signature!
The kitties are getting big now....the siamese baby is with Tio Paul Boe4fun and sleeping in their bed...lucky kitty...but the other ones are waiting for you to come back for them...I'm sure your puppy will love one to cuddle with

bajafam - 11-15-2009 at 12:08 PM

That signature! She still won't be convinced that Bobo is spelled B-O-B-O, not B-O-O-B!!! and we went and rescued some kitties from the pound, all because of those beautiful critters that she was lovin' on at your place :)

boe4fun - 11-15-2009 at 12:37 PM

Hola Shari, Just a quick note to let you all know that "Paz"ifico is adjusting well to his new home. He and Tibby play together so well, and our other "grand"kitty Scratchy has finally stopped hissing at him and now even plays with him a little. He started going out of doors this morning to explore our back yard. He is sooo cute, but can be total maniac after he wakes up from a good nights sleep or nap. Then he and Tib run all through the house playing, Tibby even plays ball with him!!! Oh, it was great meeting and camping next to Victor and Sandra. Hasta, Paul
