San Cosme is just north/west of Agua Verde. Never anyplace have I heard it referred to as a "PORT". There has been a very controversial gringo "ruler"
living there,I know of, for at least 30 years. Many land squables and others claiming they own this once established Rancho. Latest rumor was some

The folks on this board from the Loreto area should know all the skinny on this one. It is approx. 10 miles south of Ligui. When you decend the steep
dirt road off Mex 1 that leads to Agua Verde it sits right at the bottom and is about one mile North. A popular place for kayack campers. Has a small
spring and water. Going north towards Ligui ther is a band of almost unpenterable mountainess terrain, between the coast and Mex 1, for quite some

Puerto San Cosme has been created out of thin air by a Mex./Am. real estate developer that has no title to the parcel. He goes by the name os Robi
and he bought into the ejido thinking that he could make big bucks off of the scam that he has made up. Ask him for a clean title. He can't come up
with it because it is being fought in the court system. And as for Smith, he's trying to save the private property north of San Cosme named El

what is going on. You make the comment about the "ruler", you don't know what you're talking about. You're big developer is an Mex./Am. real estate
guy that has scammed his way into the scene.

Several years back (2001 I think), I wanted to visit the mysterious place called Timbabichi - there was apparently an old two-story mansion there. My
Baja Almanac showed no road at all, so I drove to San Cosme with the idea of going on to Agua Verde and driving down in my 9ft Zodiac.
San Cosme is at the eastern (beach) end of the road to Agua Verde from the main Loreto-Constitucion road. I met a very friendly rancher who talked me
out of doing the trip in my Zodiac and rented me his panga.
I had an incredible day trip down to Timbabichi, explored the old mansion (not too much left when I was there), met more friendly people, and was back
in San Cosme by early afternoon beer time.
A lovely spot.

There used to be cardon cactus on the roof, I recall reading... There was an airstrip there and pilots would land at Timbabichi. Skeet has some

Rob. There is some Awesome Diving and Fishing Sports if you ever go back to Timbabechi.
There is also a road, well there was at one time out of Constitution, of course it was for 4 wd only.
I went there several times in my Cessna 170, stopped one time to help a guy in a 206 with a Dead Battery.
All the people I met there were great. Real Mexicano Country Folks.

San Cosme is a lovely little pueblito. The people living there are hard workers and very kind. There's a lot of history there if anyone whats to
take the time to have a great adventure. We were the first gringo's to show up in San Comse by vehicle when the road first opened.

Yahhh yes! Timbabici is also a historical place. We know the grand family of the De La Tobia's very well. Have a lovely old black and white picture
of the family sitting in front of the mansion.
These area's are very special to use. It's been our second home.
There's all kinds of things to do! Hire a cowboy guide to ride mules up in the mountains. Visit natural springs.
Take a ride in a ponga, go fishing, snorkling, or just plain sea watching. Get transfixed when you're riding backwards in a boat looking at the

Up above Timbabichi just back of the Rim of Mountain is the only place in the World that I know of, where the Cowboys carry a long pointed Stick to
"Fling Away" the Rattlesnakes as they gather their Cattle.
If anyone is going into the Rattlesnake Skin Business, that is the Place. More rattlesnakes per Capitia than any place in the world including
Sweetwater Texas, the Rattlesnake Capital of the World.
It is in such a remote area there is not to much accurate information about the Area.
If I were to recommend any place on the Sea of Cortez, Timbabichi would be the most highly recommened for a wild and isolated Adventure,both on Land
and Sea!!

I guess much depends on first impressions...when we went to San cosme about 15 years ago we were NOT welcomed with open arms....the gringo man who
finally came out refused to speak english to us and was quite rude when we enquired about camping in the area...we NEVER went back there but go to
agua verde village every year at least once and are well treated there...maybe he was having a bad day.bajajudy - 11-25-2009 at 03:34 PM
