Has anyone legally imported a gun for hunting purposes? Does anyone know the procedure to do so and what government department is the licencing
agency? Where are the rules and regulations posted?

I think the military handels that, from what I've heard.
The rules and regulations are posted with all the other rules and regulations concerning Mexico. Your mission is to find them.
Sorry, Paul...couldn't resist.Ken Bondy - 11-29-2009 at 08:54 AM

I used to get my Mexican hunting license through an outfit in Long Beach. They could not only get the license for you, but could arrange the
paperwork for importing your own shotgun. I never did it because we were always headed for Lake Hidalgo Lodge on the mainland, and they furnished
guns and ammo. But I know it could be done then (that was 20 years ago). If you are interested I will root around in my stuff and try to find the
contact info for the service.Ken Bondy - 11-29-2009 at 09:01 AM
Paulclark - found it. The service I dealt with is Mexican Hunting Association (clever name, huh?), 3302 Josie Avenue, Long Beach, CA 90808. The
phone number I have for them is 213/421-1619 (I'm sure the area code is 562 now). I have no idea if they still exist but they sure were helpful when
I was using them.rocmoc - 11-29-2009 at 11:46 AM
It has been a while since I looked into this, BUT
You have to be going to a Mexican Hunting Resort/Club and using their hunting service. Seems like I remember the Resort/Club has to work with you and
the Mexican Gov. to get the permits. You can't just hunt without being in the area supported by/owned by the Hunt Resort/Club and without one of
their guides. OR you use a gun provided by the Resort/Club.
And then you run the risk at the Military Checkpts. so I gave up on the idea.
I could be wrong but that is what I remember.
