tecate border crossing

Sounds like most of you like the Tecate border crossing so that is the way we will enter. In the past we have entered at Tijuana and picked up our tourist visas in Ensenada. Parking is a problem with a larger motorhome. Can we get a tourist visa at the Tecate border and is there decent parking for a large motorhome? Secondly, we will probably stay on the US side the night before and enter Mexico as soon as the border opens. Does it make sense to walk across the border to obtain the tourist visas vs fighting the parking or will they want to inspect the motorhome when issuing the tourist visas? Thanks Ron

A lot of people park on the U.S. side and walk across but you'll have to wait for the bank to open which is just a couple of blocks away, not sure on the time, sorry. Anyone else?

You can get pre-paid Tourist cards (FMT) from DiscoverBaja.com in San Diego if your a member, then you only have to have them stamped right there at the border and your on the road.

Do not try and get Tourist Cards at Ensenada, anymore! You will be fined or sent back to the border... the agent there is no fun, per many posts on Nomad.

Park on the U.S. side at Tecate and walk over and back for the cards to get stamped... If you buy the pre-paid cards at Discover Baja then you won't have to walk to a bank in Tecate and walk back to get them stamped. Unless you need a max. 7 day free card... then no wories about a paid card or the bank.

Tijuana has a 24-7 bank teller just for accepting the money, a few windows down from the INM office at the border.
