Trip report to La Paz

Jack Swords - 12-3-2009 at 08:16 PM

Took 3 days to drive from San Luis Obispo, CA to La Paz. Lots of military at garita in San Ysidro. Could not drive into declaration lane as it was blocked by police car with flashing lights. Drove in to be inspected, said we wanted FMTs, they opened barricade and we drove backwards into declaration parking (now backwards). Got FMT, paid bank, drove out without inspection. No sign of US folks as we entered Mexico (6:30 AM). Drove to Guerrero Negro, stayed at Don Gus as we have for past 20 years. Full cable TV channels, some in English. No porno channel, never has been. Don Vicente in GN does have one and has for years. Great classy restaurant as part of Don Gus. It is off the road under the radio tower so it was very quiet. Left in AM and hit La Paz at 4 PM. Great roads, folks were friendly. Easiest trip ever. Not many tourists here or on the road. Marina de la Paz is full, boats are selling, charters going great. Anyway, just a nice trip with a bit of difference at San Ysidro.
