Is anybody selling gas near /at the BOLA turnoff ?

There has always been one or two vendors selling gas there... Usually at a dollar/gallon over the Pemex price... But, I haven't bought from there for

We bought gas in Punta Prieta 8 miles South last weekend. Down a paved road on the West side of town.

Boy oh boy... Not everyone is going to L.A. Bay and if driving the transpeninsular highway and not knowing to top off at El Rosario or Villa Jesus
Maria, you could be in some real trouble if you assume there to be a gas station every 50 miles or so! Cataviņa and the L.A. Bay junction are perfect

Let me first say I do not in anyway want to go off on a public/private debate. But I was under the impression that all Pemex(s)(i) were private - and

Yes, you do Jim, to a degree... in the case of the central desert stations... they were owned by the local ejido.
However, they are not allowed to operate like private enterprise:
Pemex (the Mexican Government) doesn't allow competition and is very restrictive on how money can be earned and the prices charged at the franchise
stations.
Without the ability to charge a higher price in the more difficult location (far from any bank or employment base) or being able to perfom mechanical
work, serve food, whatever to add to the tiny profit selling gas produces, there just is no incentive to keep the station open.
San Agustin, Parador Punta Prieta, Cataviņa all failed... I think there may have been a station in Nuevo Rosarito (south of Punta Prieta) that failed

Right... not going to bola....Round trip down and return would put me at the limit of gas tank....and when that little LOW FUEL light comes on
(especially in BAJA) it gives you that feeling of "How far can I drive before I am stranded" feeling.....
Was thinking of extra gas can but don't like the danger of extra fuel in the camper (or the smell)....and I have had my share of spills of water over
the years no matter how hard you try to fasten things down....GAS would really be bad.

as leak proof as you'll find. spring loaded cap (not well shown in the foto). we have 10 or so on the job. each trip at least one gets to go to baja
with us.
