Baja casa - tax ?'s

pacside - 12-5-2009 at 11:49 AM

I have an S Corp business (small software reseller) based in California. Last year accountant advised I not put baja casa in business. I put it in business anyway, now I want to move to personal. Land was purchased via fideicomiso and casa construction completed early 09.

Question: Do most baja property owners keep property in a business (if they have one) or personal?

How difficult is it to move it to personal once it has been in business?

Can anyone recommend a tax person to assist me with business and personal returns? My current one was good during the boom times but mighty expensive now.

Thanks,
pacside

Why waste money on a professional when you override their advice and "Do it my way?"

I hired this guy recently to do some tax work involving my mex property. I thought his fees were reasonable and he did a good job. He knows all about Mexican property matters. He's all set up to do what's needed over the Internet and either answered his phone when I called or returned my calls promptly. He's in San Francisco.

Valid point. Trying to fix my error :?::(
This was one of the rare times I've overridden his advice since 95.

I'm actually considering trying TurboTax...

In life, as you know, you pay or ask for advice but ultimately it is your call and you have to live with the consequences.
