Campo Serena Bahia Asuncion question

Hi folks...is there hot water in the campground shower yet?

I'm the same way. Hot water makes the bones feel good.cold water hurts. Hot water isn't asking for alot is it. Have a great trip.:

Vagabundo and all...a few of us were just over to Juan and Shari's campground in Asuncion. Lots of hot water, great view, and we had a super fun time.

Now we're back in Coyote Bay...not exactly in hot water, but still having a super time.

I recommend you go see what Asuncion (and Shari/Juan) have to offer. You won't be disappointed. For me, it's like Baja was 40 years ago.

From the main highway it is about 70+/- miles. It takes us about 1 1/2 these days depending on what we have in the back of the truck. It really depends on what you are driving.

The first 40+ miles from Vizcaino to the turn off to BA is paved, but has some major areas of pot holes and broken road---mainly the salt flat areas. They are always working on it, so it depends on what they have done.

Also, there used to be just one big dune on the road and now there are several small ones that spill onto the roads. They look soft, but they are hard as a concrete tope---learned the hard way.

The road from the Tortugas road to Bahia Asuncion is 25+ miles. When we left a few weeks ago, all but the last 8 miles have been paved and they have surveyed the last 80 miles.

The first part that was paved has some nasty spots from a big rain storm a few years ago, the rest of the pavement is great, the the dirt part changes from very smooth to washboard nasty---depends on when the grader has been there.

There are a couple of soft spots---no big deal.

And when you can see the town, you will have a choice of roads to take into town---the main road that follows the power lines or the roller coaster road to the right---both get there.

Great place, but then again, we are quite biased.

It does remind one of Highway 1 in the past.

I know zero about windsurfing, but we do have some wind almost everyday, especially in the afternoons. In the spring, we have LOTS of wind. The prevailing wind, except in summer, comes from the north.

I have never seen anyone wind-surfing there----what is required to make it a good wind-surfing area?

I don't get it! Nobody has bashed you for giving indepth information regarding the location of B.A.? From what I gather, there's quite a few secret surf spots that need to be left alone.

Thanks Shari for the service and information you provide... You and Juan deserve success for your hard work and kindness!

Before you joined Baja Nomad, there was really nothing known about the area. Just an occaisional report on Abreojos, Tortugas or Malarrimo Beach was all we got. Not only do we have photos, town news, and fishing reports... but a great bed & breakfast facility, camping and charter fishing thanks to you both!

What you have done by joining Baja Nomad is also been a great boost to the Asuncion economy... homes sold, more motel and restaurant business, other fish charter service business, beer and food purchases in town...
