Playa Escondida on Bahia Concepcion condition?

I've had seven winter stays there, and was looking forward to this one. A friend checked it out last week and said it was in sad shape, no facilities, and the road impassible for all but small robust vehicles. Any comments? Thanks, Segundo

Road is in real bad shape. Don't recommend car and trailer. Pickup with camper go real slow, motorhome small only, no palapas. Santispac is best bet this year,
some palapas. Lots of beach

Also - will the water be warm enough at this time of the year for water activities? We were thinking of stopping there

is the bad condition just for playa escondida or generic for the various beaches in northern bahia conception?

we were swimming near Playa Naranjos yesterday and it was glorious...I guess it was around 74 degrees or so...comfy and refreshing.

Playa Escondida is still a beautiful beach, the road is almost non usable. Okay for a suv to pick your way through and tent camp. There are several Banos and dump station at Santispac and last year Ana's was selling showers . Ana's opens at 2 pm thursday thur tuesday---- DJ Sat and Tues

We were at Santispac in mid October, only one palapa was under construction, no showers, and the one toilet that was there last year wasn't working. Still a great beach but plan on being self contained.

It was deserted. Palapas look to be under construction after Jimena.

I drove my CJ-7 Jeep in the other day with no problems, but there are spots where a trailer or long chassis motorhome would be in trouble. I would imagine the road will be improved to promote camping. Like Santispac, it's an ejido Bonafil enterprise.

It must have been pre-ejido days at Playa Escondida when Jose and his family lived there. Remember Jose and son-in-law maintaining the entrance road with shovels? Some of my fondest memories are of those times.

Sweet wave, I've been wracking my memory trying to remember Jose and son-in-law of Escondida, but it's no use. My problem may be that I never really visited Escondida beach much before 1988 or so. Don't know why, just too much else going on, I guess. From '88 to about 2003, though, many of us locals played volleyball there with campers and other sports enthusiasts from all over the Bay and town. Oddly, that afternoon volleyball game became more than sports, it became a real social event and quite competitive. Soon Boney's at Rcho Coyote got himself a court and games were arranged, meals catered, beers served, etc. Fun times.

The volleyball games at Playa Escondida became so well known that kids from Europe heard or read about it...and would show up looking for a game.

Anyway, I digress from my poor recollection of Jose and son-in-law. Sorry to say, I can't recall them, but I did know Analita and her daughter, Araceli, very well. They lived in the little hut on the hillside without many furnishings, including a proper bed to sleep on. Then donations, gifts, and goodwill took over and thier home decor improved.

I still have a great memento from Analita and Araceli. One Christmas Analidia knitted me a bowtie..a cloth bolo. And Araceli gift-wrapped it..she was about 8 yrs old then. Of course, the child is a grown women now. The tie is one of my more prized Baja possessions.
