If I put it in my electric car, will it go 30% longer between charges?

Found more info on this AMAZING device. (Or it's Chinese knock off)

Translated to the English from the language spoken in the country of the Chinese:

How it works and what is does is now as clear as the muddy Yangtze River.

Product Feature

All of our electricity supply is subject to surges from time to time, which result in spikes that can be damaging to your household electrical appliances.

These spikes simply consume electricity, resulting in overheating, which shortens the life of our electrical appliances and wiring of our home. In extreme cases electrical spikes can cause burns, blow outs and even power cuts.

The ePowerSaver helps to stabilize voltages and reduce currents in your power supplies. It improves the power factor by reducing the amount of electricity that is used from our utility company. This is accomplished by supplying electricity locally at the load by the use of specially designed capacitor. These advanced capacitor store the additional electricity needed for stabilizing electric current within an inductive load.(for example when we turn on our air condition unit).

Therefore, the amount of electricity purchased from our utility company by a power factor optimization has been greatly reduced and resulting in power savings for our home or office.

Now, with the help of ePowerSaver, there is a smart way to reduce up to 30% of your electricity consumption every month. No more high electricity bill you have to pay. Now, you can Use Power With Le$$ Cost

Extra electrical power can also be loss naturally when being transmitted (call wire loss) or at the instant of turning on the electrical appliances.

Our ePowerSaver does not consume much electricity itself. You can on it continuously 24 hours a day all year round without its affecting your electricity costs.

ePowerSaver is suitable for inductive and capacitive appliances, such as air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, stereos, fluorescent lamps, electric fans, televisions, etc.(please refer to FAQ for Electrical Products Comsumption Info)

It is so easy to use, just plug the ePowerSaver in any of the indoor outlets of single phase 90V - 250V/ 50 Hz ¨C 60Hz supplies. It will be more efficient if you choose a location where there are fewer appliances nearby and closest to the meter.

arrowhead - 12-10-2009 at 02:13 PM

It's an old scam. The device won't save any power. All it is is a capacitor. In order to have even the slightest bit of help, it would have to be on the same line as an inductive device, like a motor, and then disconnected after the motor started up. An inductive load causes a phase shift between the voltage and the current, with the current lagging the voltage. A capacitor causes a shift that is 180 out of phase from the inductive load, thereby bringing the voltage and current closer togehter -- if everything is designed properly.

The only probelm is the power meter on your house doesn't care about phase shifts or power quality or power efficiency. It measures watts of energy consumed. That device will not effect the power meter at all.

Arrowhead is correct. There is no device that can cut your electric use. That said, I recall, back in the day, people I knew in SOCAL would carefully cut the seal tag on their electric meters, pull them off and turn them upside down, causing the meter to run backward, which would actually cause the reading to reverse. I had a friend who was actually caught by a meter reader, and feigned ignorance saying that he recently had electrical work done and his electrician must have remove the meter and replaced it wrong.

There is only one device that I could recommend regarding electricity and that would be a combo power strip and conditioner. Use it with delicate electronic devices such as your PC and TV. The unit will filter spikes and dropoffs in the voltage insulating the equipment from such activity. And it will break the circuit in the event of a major problem.

High end audio stores sell some of these things for upward of $500. But there are some available for around $100. Check out Audioadvisor.com

:?: I am amazed you haven't designed an every saver with all you know.

Unfortunately, I am not as smart as you, so I kept it simple.

To me this is this simple.

I made a 2 day test.

Day 1 8:00 a.m. - wrote down the numbers on my meter.
8:00 p.m. - wrote down the numbers on my meter.

I get the number of kilowatts I used in that 12 hour period by doing a simple subtraction.

Day 2 7:45 a.m. - plugged the unit
8:00 a.m. - wrote down the numbers on my meter.
8:00 p.m. - wrote down the numbers on my meter.

I got a different number of kilowatts used (obviously less) even though I did the same things I did the day before.

But then I made it even more simple. Every time I sell a unit I go to the meter with the customer and we count the times the disc goes around in 5 minutes. I plug in the unit, wait 15 minutes and we count again.

Most people don't care "HOW", they just want to pay less for electricity and the only way to do that is by consuming less kilowatts.

I may be wrong, but I doubt it.

Have a good night! ;D

Taco de Baja - 12-11-2009 at 08:31 AM

Unless your house is wired so that ALL power goes through the same circuit that the device is plugged into (maybe they do they in MX?) it CAN NOT WORK.

Most houses that are built to code have 10+ circuit breakers (circuits). That's why you can overload one circuit, have it pop at the "fuse box", and still have power going to the rest of the house, they are essentially on different lines that are NOT interconnected.

The only way to potentially have this capacitor device work would be to hard wire a single one in to each and every electric device in your house….all 50+ of them. And if it really worked don't you think the appliance manufactures would already be smart enough know to put a capacitor device like this in their equipment to get better “Energy Star” ratings…And if they did put one in there, do you think it would it help reduce the non-appliance electricity usage throughout your house just because it was there?.....NOT.

Ooops, guess you outsmarted me this time Arrowhead. I didn't know this was about the Baja in Texas or Australia. I live in Baja California, MEXICO. Sorry, guess I was on the wrong map. I clicked on the links you so kindly sent me.

Too bad for the people in Texas, I only go there for a good steak sandwich from time to time.

Why would I worry what the Department of Energy has to say? I wonder what there comment would be on the rates CFE charges gringos in BAJA CALIFORNIA, MEXICO?

Regarding Energy Star, I believe I have never posted that my product has that certification. But you are smart, I guess you knew that.

I am sure Dan's imaginary friend thinks everybody is a psychopath. Say hello to him for me please.

And last but not least, Australia. I don't plan on going kangarroing anytime soon so no worries there.

Keep on clicking n posting. It's always good to start a new day laughing.

As far as I know, Mexico operates under the same laws of physics as Australia (although I've heard Aussies' toilets rotate the wrong way.)

BabyZarathustra, since you were kind enough to send me that NOM certification (Folks, for what it's worth, those things do have government approval for sale here), I've done enough research to conclude that:

1) These devices probably DO improve the power factor on household circuits; they may even be able to do it selectively (ie switch out their capacitance when there's no heavy inductive load happening).

2) Whether that will measurably lower one's electrical bills, depends on the type of meters the CFE is installing for domestic consumers. BZ, do you have any indication that domestic CFE meters consider power factor in their measurements? That would be unusual (that type of meter is higher technology and normally installed only for industrial customers if at all).

I'm fascinated by the tests that you describe having done personally. Theoretically, you should not have gotten the results you saw. :?:

--Larry

Hi Larry,

I have no idea what kind of meters CFE uses. Good thing you say the units are legal cause I haven't been able to party at all since I read the Attorney General of Texas would come after me. :P

Regarding the results of the tests, I find it simple. Every single power line has spikes, notches (sags, dips and surges). All of these are taken by the meter as kilowatts used. By keeping the power line stable you will not be consuming as many kilowatts. If you use less kilowatts you pay less.

Anyway, I sold the last unit today, so I don't really have anything else to do around here.

Ohhh, but before I leave, I just want to clear up the fact that I never posted an ad in the Gringo Gazette. They took an ad I put in cabomarket.com, translated it & published it there. Guess Bajahowodd is right, Carrie Duncan will take anyone's ad.

Thus spoke BZ.
