As most know we had an attempted hijacking at gunpoint of a Cessna 206 at Alfonsina's a couple of weeks ago. The bad guys then succeeded in stealing
a truck, again at gunpoint, to escape.
We have had airplane thefts there before. But this time the combination of criminals with guns helping themselves to trucks and airplanes and the
lack of a local police force....the Federales had to come in from Puertecitos to investigate....has produced a building mistrust in the future of the
place. A lot of Gringos, some of whom have been there for 40 years or more, are asking themselves if they should pull the plug and exit Mexico until
the increase in crime stops.
The new road will also make it much easier for the criminal element further north to show up to wreck the place.
It's too damned bad that this is happening. But it sure looks like the lack of security is going to continue to ensure that Baja stays poor for a
long time to come.

If we could be armed for self protection, much of this crap wouldn't be happening. As it is, we're offered up like ducks in a pond for those with
guns to have their way with.
The police can't/won't protect us and we can't protect ourselves.
I've said it before, when the market improves and my house is sold, I'm outta here. I'm not going to end my life at the hands of some freakin'
junky if I can help it.
Security in Baja

Dennis:
I was watching Discovery last night and they had a show on the pirates in Southeast Asia. It occurred to me that in the entire world we have a
situation where the bad guys...the pirates there...have guns and it's illegal for the good guys to have them. The ships there are required to repel
borders with hoses and bright lights...can't shoot the bad guys because laws in local ports against guns.
We also saw that it took the personal and time concurrent approval of the President of the US to authorize Marines to shoot pirates when they
kidnapped a ship's captain last year.
This stuff has got to cease! Here is Goofafornia it's impossible to get a carry permit and having a loaded weapon in your car is a felony. But the
guys and the liberal political "leaders" don't care.
Political correctness, liberalism and the fear of the ignorant are gonna turn the entire world back to the Dark Ages unless we can turn the current
trends around....and I don't see how we can do that without a complete overhaul of education and legal systems. The real fix might come,
unfortunately, after a disaster that will scare the pants off of yer basic liberal chick in a Beemer on her way to Nordstrom's for lunchypoo. Just as
on December 6, 1941 87% of the US electorate was against war and on December 8 99% were for it, we need a good swift kick in the ass.

it's actually a misdemeanor (without priors or certain criminal convictions) but there is an easy way around the "loaded" prong. I do generally agree
with your post....

Bucko - you are so right on!
i was shocked at the lack of recognition here locally for the Dec 7th anniversary.
there are only 9 Doolittle raiders left alive and 5 are attending the reunion this year. they are mustering to get 25 B-25s to show up - the largest
gathering of 25s since WWII.
instead we have a bunch of mindless spineless youth and leaders worried about what color panties J Loaded or Brittany Spaniol Spears wears and which
freak is about to get kicked off Amerikan Idol.

Mike....Maybe it's time for you to step up and be the new Doolittle. There are some prime targets here in baja.
