Headed down to BOLA for New Yrs week,what usually bites from the surf durring this time of the yr ? Bass,corvina,cortez halibut ?

Go out in a panga. There cheap in BOLA. You might catch some nice grouper.

Watched Bedman pull in all the triggerfish he wanted on the gravel beach at La Gringa (facing Smith Island... back in 2003.

You might consider taking the road to San Rafael from BOLA. The surf fishing is much better there (halibut).

south of camp gecko has halibut and north towards la gringa can have halibut. otherwise baybass and puffer.

No surf in BOLA. Sometime you get some good wind chop. Similar fishing techniques apply, surf or no surf.

I caught 7 barracuda,( i know..), four spotted bay bass, one big mackrel and a 14 inch yellowtail one morning last week off the beach at k. 5 on the
way to La Gringa. 8lb test spinner with mostly crocodiles. Got to be early and a higher tide, once the sun hit the water it was over. Fished for about
45 min. All were released!
