Made the trip yesterday from SD to G. Negro. Crossed the border at about 7 and barrived at sundown. Drizzle all morning untill after San Quetin when
as we climbed it became full blown rain, but not too long or to bad but by then the truck needed a bath anyway. Very light traffic, I don't know if it
was the weather or the time of the year, or both as this is my first 'winter' trip. Overall the road is in good shape: the toll road has many
potholes, Meandro is almost done-not striped and in true Mexican fashion the last 100 ft of the repair is unpaved (maybe that way they don't have to
pay the taxes:lol, some rough areas after Catavina. Saw one extremely bad
accident about an hour before G. Negro, a truck crossed the line on a hill and forced a small car into the hillside. Hopefully no one was injured but
a good reminder that it still is Hwy 1 and to be carefull even as it seems every year it gets better.
Today we make the drive to La Paz so I need to get up and going, will post the condition later.

G Negro to La Paz

Sorry it took a couple of days to post this half but the internet at the hotel in La Paz didn't like my computer. The road is in overall good shape. There are rough areas on both sides of Vizcaino but the work they were doing
there in July is finished. Going Northbound watch out for the left lane ending (with dirt barricades) at two intersections. In C Constitution they
have turned off all of the annoying lights but about 75% of them are now altos, makes it much faster to get through town. In Santa Rosalia there are 3
places the road has been completely washed out, no pavement - only rocks. One on the north end and 2 on the southen of town. In July we made a meal
stop in Mulege and driving through there this time the devestation from the hurricane is unbelievable, can't imagion what a scary time that must have
been there.
