It sounds like salsa/afro cubano with a bit of a rap touch.

I Googled them and they are from Mexico; a combination of Musica Banda and Quebradita. This originated and evolved in the 1990s.
I was surprised. I thought "Cuba" too, but the costumes and the settings are definitely not Cuba. I then thought maybe Puerto Rico and that it was
probably filmed in Miami.
Until the 1990s Mexico didn't have a native sound like this. This sound, with that type of percussion is definitely borrowed from Cuban or Puerto
Ricano Salsa, Merengue, and derived from Afro Cubano.
As a trumpet player, I lived and played music in San Miguel de Allende. Our band, Los Downbeats, was put together by a gringo Jazz piano
player/teacher from L.A. He was the piano instructor at the Conservatorio in Mexico City and took his best students and formed the band. They settled

Sorry, but...
There's no Cuban influence here... It's Cumbia, plain and simple. A subtle difference for sure but different nonetheless.
Cumbia has evolved into what's now being called South American Salsa.

Does Miami have hills? There was a mountain in the background of one of the shots....either an island or the mainland. Also, I think this was shot

yup Dave nailed it...definately cumbia and my favorite dance music...sheesh, had to put my coffee down and dance a bit.
I thought it kinda looked like Acapulco...I've seen this band before ....great dance band....hmm...pretty interesting white crotches...a new fad
