Hey, life guarding services are taking cuts everywhere!

When are people going to realize that they cannot get something for nothing? You want lifeguards? You want effective schools with reasonable class sizes? You want streets without potholes? You want public safety? You want reliable medical care? Who do you suppose has to pay for that? Oh. That's right. Government is too big and taxes are anathma. We've spent almost the whole time since Reagan grousing about how government is the problem. In reality, the only thing we've done is watch the decay of so many aspects of what we believed made this a great country.

Don't Need No Stinking Lifeguards

MrBillM - 12-19-2009 at 05:21 PM

In my Surfing days, I HATED the Lifeguards. They were always sticking their Butts in where they weren't wanted or needed.

Swimmming in the ocean should be just another exercise in Darwinian selection.

Wooooshy,

How about getting a bunch of guys together, picking the thing up, and moving it back on the beach. It may take 15 minutes.

I heard that it already has been moved to higher ground.

Whoosh, is my information correct or not??

That's an idea for a start. You were so good at coming up with an answer to the least important facet, now how about addressing the substantial issues Woosh raised? You know, like getting them painted, stairs attached, and manned with lifeguards.

Your response was every bit as shallow and indifferent as the phonies you promote.

Just another "win win situation" if those pesky children get swept out to sea, eh?

I made it over to take the pics this morning. The tides aren't as high as last weeks- but the New Years Eve high tide event will be something else. That week I will likely be able to recreate that more dramatic first tower photo. It doesn't look like the tower was moved back at all to me.

The Tower legs are buried from the surf like the other one. This Tower apparently has had the front glass window broken out. Not sure how the safety glass made it down onto the deck with the window panels sealed.

Whats the point of this thread? seems someone didn't have much to do this week.

Pesky Children Swept out to Sea............

MrBillM - 12-20-2009 at 12:57 PM

...............Are something their parents would be responsible for.

There is a surplus of kids badly-served by their parents who will grow up to badly-serve society.

Other than that, I don't care.

Unless they happen to be on a Beach annoying me.

Those who DO care can volunteer whatever time and effort they feel is justified to safeguard the Tots. Form an organization, get together and spend your time patrolling the Beach instead of (or, in addition to) whatever time you spend doing other things in Baja. Your caring involvement with your fellow Humans will make you feel better.

Let EVERYONE else, regardless of age, do WHATEVER they wish in the ocean and elsewhere as long as it doesn't adversely affect others.

I was swimming in the Ocean from a Pre-School age on beaches without Lifeguards and I'm still here.

I get the feeling that Rosarito Beach is important to Woosh.

He spends virtually all of his time complaining about Playas de Rosarito, commandeering his world from a Barco-lounger where he mystifies himself with all of his "solutions" to the world's problems, but in the end does not leave his front yard to activate any of his brilliant solutions.

So there was no purpose to this post, except for Wiiish to complain, as usual and then do nothing but look for more to complain about. Sour.

that something that was presented as a wanted gift, for whatever reasons, is now being wasted.
Is that less important than a thread about what you are serving this week?
I guess it is based on what you feel is important. I get the feeling that Rosarito Beach is important to Woosh.
To an ignorant fool like me the whole process appeared to proceed backwards. It has been my impression that if you don't put up gate posts first and wait at least 5 years to build something than you are just rushing the job.
See, they should have just put up little gate posts on the beach with a sign that stated (in Spanish, of course) "Lifeguards coming soon to a beach near you"!

Well it was a tough year, no money for anything except bare necessities, no tourism. The towers are there, they can get cleaned up, and they can function this next summer, whats the problem?

JESSE - 12-20-2009 at 02:04 PM

I also should add, those towers where schedule to end up in a landfill.

Mexicorn - 12-20-2009 at 02:11 PM

Footprinters Beach patrol?
Three big gutted drunks in speedos pulling an ice chest full of Tecate?

That was only a result of wasteful spending by the government. They should have been refurbished and used.
Actually, they should have never reached that stage of deferred maintenance to begin with. But, what the heck...when you need to build a baseball park, you can't have or do everything.

It appears that they have arrived. But given that this is Mexico...

Understandably not on schedule.

I wonder why Carlsbad didn't remove the name. They must have known where they were going.

Let me save the people of Carlsbad the trouble of awnsering you:

I am pretty sure both Rosarito and Carlsbad don't care one bit about your excess of free time.

Why don't you wait in the lifeguard tower?

Very effective come-back.

Didn't I read somewhere in a post from you recently that you would not respond to my posts in the future.

Another characteristic to add to your list of good traits - man of his word.

Allow me to expand what Jesse said, "nobody cares how you spend your excess free time". You whine, complain, espouse that you have all the answers to cure all problems and you don't get out of your barco-lounger or your front yard to do a thing. You thesis is simple, only Wooosh knows how to fix all problems and posting those thoughts is all you ever will do. Whoopie Woooosh. What a guy.

Even running water.

Hard to find beach front property that doesn't need a Maritime Zone concession.
