Stayed at Costa del Sol last April. Clean rooms, bar and small cafe. Bring your own pillow

Daggets, Archelon and Gecko (closed) are not hotels. check out Mia's site for additional info.

And will you have your dog with you? That is important

rts551 - 1-9-2010 at 07:47 PM

Thanks Diane. Usually, but not sure this time.

Thanks for the relies and the website. It helps and we may be camping.

Is Larry and Rachael's still open ?
Is Larry still around ?
Or maybe it's a different place now ?

Diver - 1-9-2010 at 07:54 PM

And didn't they have a few places to rent at Dagget's or are they private ?

We stayed there over new year.Good value meals if you want them. It's run by a woman name Ruth.
She was great to us. Lots of room for the ATV's. Take the road toward LaGringa turn a the sign for their rest./bar

This doesnt answer your question, but you ought to know. In June 2008 I got the worst margarita Ive ever had at Las Hamacas restaurant. They did a good job with the grouper we caught...cooked 3 ways.

Costa del Sol in original rooms great, if new building test bed, we had Room 8 and the floor would have been softer!. Good food here, however.

Las Hamacas, lots of room for your bikes... little water pressure in showers.

Raquel and Larry's north of town on La Gringa road: Always gets good reviews, food served as well.

Guillermos on the beach, but not very many rooms.

Casa Diaz, the original place to stay established after WWII.

For cabins, Daggett's. Camp Gecko is no longer a place to stay or camp except if you lease a lot there.

See Mia's web site (Paulina posted) for more.

Our friends stayed at Casa Diaz over the New Year holiday. Their room had been freshly painted with new curtains. You still get a bar of soap, bath towel and t.p. for each occupant. Lots of parking space for trailers, a beach front patio where you can sit and watch the boats come in.

$30. US per night.

Thanks Paulina. Sounds good since check-in for the race is there as well. Much better than the history lesson. Just kidding

Las Hamacas & Costa Del Sol

Fred-o - 1-10-2010 at 04:21 PM

These are my two fav's. Last time CDS was 500 pesos and Las Hamacas was 400. Both a good deal I think.

Food might be a little better at the Costa Del Sol.

The room they showed us at Casa Diaz was simply awful. Bed not made, bathroom waste basket not emptied, and I just turned around and walked out. They just didn't care, but that was some time ago, over a year. Maybe things have improved. I would not go back however, the memory lingers on.

Paulina - 1-10-2010 at 09:57 PM

Fred-o,

More than likely you asked to see a room, and they obliged even though the cleaning ladies hadn't gotten to it yet. There is no way that Chubasco would expect someone to take a room in that condition.

"I would not go back however, the memory lingers on."

There are meds for that memory problem.
(the smiley face means that I've got my tongue firmly planted in my cheek. No offence.)

rts551, if you are heading down for the race, it would be best to call in a reservation asap.
