Predatory Animals

Predatory animals are quite a treat; they enjoy putting on camouflage while they are hunting…

In my dogs case his choice of “cammo” is dog crap..

He rolls in it… then goes hunting for what ever.. so far three rats and two gophers that he has "shared" with me

He is “MY DOG” now.. The wife will not give him baths any longer.. It falls on me..

I’m treating it like changing diapers, something I could never do… would make me hurl ever time I tried.. was always told by the wife that I was doing it to get out of doing it.. but it caused a "gag" reflex every time.. as it does to my wife now , when the dog gets back from hunting

So, now it’s my turn taking care of the baby but the rats are gone and so are the gophers too... the yards a bit of a mess, but it will grow back.

And another consideration with him killing gophers, is that is “stabilizes” the ground/banks for decreased erosion and the plants do better also..

This is me giving him a bath in "Irish Spring" body wash yesterday.. after he got back from a hunting trip.. a bit of a down side of the little fella, but he's doing exactly what he was bread for... can't change him, nor do I want to...

But, if your looking to keep "rats" out of your place.. well, the Mexican folks that own the place let him go anywhere he wants.. they just love him.. as do all the other dogs
He is a star around here.. too funny... but, I still have to clean him when comes back from hunting..

We have cat in the neighborhood who likes to poop in our front yard at night when the dogs are sleeping---and this cat does not bury it.

If we don't find it first, both dogs LOVE to roll in it. They also love to roll in dead creatures on the beach, and at times cow patties if we don't stop them. All is very normal dog behavior, but

He's got his shots.. And after reading up on these little "mutts" and seeing him in action:

We have two dogs, one is Scout, and the other is Bear an Australian Sheep dog.

One day I saw Bear, walking around the fence very slowing, and then at the corner end of the fence he made a right along the fence line.. He was "herding" something with his head down... A RAT...

Well, Scout was with me and saw what Bear was moving off the property... he "RAN" straight toward the rat.. The rat raised up with teeth ready to bite... before that rat had a chance Scout tore his throat out with one lunge.. I could not believe my eyes.. He was a "natural born killer” I did not teach him how to do it; he did it just as Bear was doing his thing herding without hurting.

Scout, has killed like I say, three rats down here so far at where we are staying... In Oct we were in La Mision and he killed one rat and three gophers..

Yesterday, was a sad day... Scout (aka Spartacus) was brought back in "chains".. His hunting spot that he has chosen is trash and the drainage area for the sewer, Yeah, tell me about it..

Yesterday after having to give him a bath around 11 am.. Yeah, you guessed it .....

Well, after the second bath of the day, put chicken wire up so he can't get out...

The wife was washing clothes, went to hang them out and left the gate open... she had to take off after him.. I'm messed up and can't get around anymore..

She got him before it was to late and brought in back.. She said "I have put Spartus in chains"

He is not a happy camper, his total freedom has been removed for now... he is on a leash when going outside...

But, other than that, they are good for "killing" rats...

Saw a picture of a man whose job was to kill rats around a train depot in England. His Russell had killed 21 in one night...

And thanks I love the little guy, as you can see... never had a dog that was "cute" before...

I'll tell him you like him.. he loves people and likes to make friends.. with the noted exceptions
