The rumors are going hot and heavy recently around here about the camping beach opening soon. Some of the toilets have been rehabbed and others being
worked on now. I think it will open within a month. The restaurant, run by the same person that has the say on the beach camping, is doing well and
the food is good according to the regulars. Most of us feel this is a good thing since many of us started our love affair with PC as campers. This
gives those thinking about retirement here a chance to learn more about the area and people. With the way the economy has been there are a lot of
homes and lots on the market now and prices have come down a tiny bit.

That would be very good news.
We've spent many wonderful days camped on that beach with our little boat bobbing offshore.
And spent a few bucks in the old restaurant/bar !! 
Does the cowboy from Colorado still own the first house north of the hotel ?

Diver, There is a Cowboy here but not sure it would be the one you're talking about because he just got into a home in the last couple of years and
not the first one North of the hotel. There is also a rumor about Casa Finca being turned into a bed and breakfast. And the restaurant will put in a
small store. Only rumor!

I stopped by the camping beach (Jan. 2) on my last trip down, and it looked like the showers were disconnected from water, no toilets, and no trash
barrels. This must be some very recent activity. I hope the rumor is true. There's no better place to spend the 4th of July (about 5-7 miles east
fishing for Dorado).

fishbuck, Not too bad considering the number of clients it averages and how far it is for groceries. Cold Beer and drinks

It would be great if someone would post pictures of the camping area. The last time I was at Punta Chivato was 1985 or so. I've been driving right by
ever since.
Are there palapas/ramadas?

Thanks Russ. We're lazy Bahia Concepcion campers, truck camper / palapa, like to have beer/ice/food close by and usually get a 50 gallon drum of
"fresh" water for cleaning up from the locals that supply such things. Are there little old ladies in beat up sedans driving by in the morning selling
warm, mystery meat empanadas? YUM!
Just kidding, we'll check it out next trip. It's about a 10 mile dirt road trip in, right?

There are a couple of venders that come in with vegies, shrimp, scallops, fish, tomales, burritos & empanadas but business has been so bad in the
last year or two that there isn't any regular schedule. I suspect that by the time they open the beach again there will be water too. The propane
truck comes most Saturdays. The hotel has a beautiful place but quite expensive and lousy attitude towards the residence and campers. There is an RV
dump station too or was one.
More like 15 mile to the beach from Palo Verde. Slow and bumpy

There is one restaurant at the hotel. VERY expensive! And another off the main road by the golf course called Los Chibatos. below. Their prices are
OK. They have/had ideas of building a few rooms but haven't completed them yet.

Who owns the restaurant? And your saying the Ejido still controls the camping beach?

The guy(Raul Lujan) that owns the restaurant also owns the land around Punta Chivato (and some on Shell Beach). Actually he has sold to a corporation
but is now managing their interests so I understand. Lots of rumors here. The ejido no longer has land near the waterfront although ejido members do.

We have had some nice meals at that restaurant back when the camping beach was open. I'm sure the cook is differant now, but it"s the only game in
town, and we felt lucky to have it.

Haven't been this season but friends say the rellenos are fantastic. The dishwasher from the old hotel is now the cook.

My last stay at PC in July 2008 included flies and mosquitos, for the first time in all my years camping at PC. Enough to drive us away after a couple
days. I thought it was probably due to all the running water at the showers. Hopefully they clean it up nice. That was the best part of camping at PC
- NO BUGS. Now if they can do something to attract the bait and dorado back.
A little update

I had dinner last night at Los Chibatos. I asked for milenesa and although it wasn't on the menu they accommodated me. My friends got the beef fajita
and halibut. It was all good. We got to spend some time with the manager (no other clients)so here's some news. Last night was the first night the new
cook flew solo. It was good with room to improve. Always a good thing. The camping beach is open but no facilities. Los Chibatos is in construction
mode building rooms, pool and a nice patio. There are plans for an RV camping area near their restaurant. We're trying to have the new part of the
road to PC dragged on a regular basis. From Palo Verde to the estuary no improvements. The home owners association is planning some cool events and
best of all....
A couple of boats got into dorado schools today. Tomorrow if the wind settles down, as predicted, I'm launching the Tin Boat. They were reported a
little farther out than I'd like to go, 12 miles off Santa Inez Islands.
Took the ranger out for some shore fishing this afternoon as the wind came up and hit 5 or10 spots and got the white stripe. Oh well, it was a
really nice ride. Here's our new sign as you go past my place into PC

No, Seņor Ken that's the new name for Casa Finca where the Cambells built the huge house and sponsored the Dorado Tournament. It is now or will be
shortly a bed and breakfast. That slimy bastard on the point with all those beautiful over priced and empty rooms is still there and also expanding.
And of course giving Raul fits by pushing the limits. I wish them both the best in their war.

Sorry too about the "bastard on the point". The Cambells house a B and B, WOW? That's good news. That house has always interested me. Might have
to splurge just to get a first hand look.
