East Cape Road

I am posting this for a friend of mine who's in Cabo area right now. He asked about the road along the coast down from Cabo Pulmo to San Jose del Cabo (called east cape road??). I have never driven that route so I couldn't give him a good advice.

Is the road passable by a normal car? I think he has a rental car (probably just a basic passenger car). How long does it take? Is it worth a drive?

I appreciate any info about the road so that I can forward the info to my friend.

Piece of cake, even with a standard passenger car. How long it takes really depends on how often you stop along the way. There is also a portion of alternate right of way farther inland that is paves up from Puerto Los Cabos.

Have personnaly taken the trip about 2 years ago in a rental car...no problem its definately washboard but hey its a rental be sure and stop at Buzzards when you come into puerto/la playita look for the signs. Awesome ocean views.

Is it suitable for a short motorhome pulling a jeep w/kayaks?

It's suitable for any vehicle that you want to drive on it. It is a typical Baja dirt/washboard road. Drive at an appropriate speed and have fun. One thing to consider with a rental is that some rental contracts prohibit driving on unimproved (read dirt) roads. If you tear it up on a dirt road pay to have it towed to the highway before you call the rental agency. Just my 2 centavos.....dt

Great road with awesome scenery. Check out the "Baja Crossroads Country Club". Little cantina built out of a shipping container with a palapa patio. Excellent fresh ceviche and cold beer! Great day trip from Cabo. Met a very nice lady, forgot her name, riding a quad. They were building a house for rental, I think in Las Frailles. If you can, rent a Jeep or SUV, makes it easier to explore off the main dirt road.

I took my F250/Cabover Camper down that road and never needed to use 4x4 (except when I drove it on the beach in sand, hahha)... Great road, nice scenery, great people along the way.
