Saw these the morning after the big storm, we had a few cm of snow. The prints are about 3.5-4 inches long. Looked at some websites but nothing looks
like these, really weird thing are the long, long toes.
any ideas?

Uh-oh...............
astrobaja - 1-27-2010 at 03:27 PM
maybe a racoon, never seen them here in Baja though and the ones back in Canada were notoriously not shy!

We have racoons here in San Diego County... right in the cities even...
Maybe BobCat prints?
I like the chupacabra take, however!

what is that?
mulegemichael - 1-27-2010 at 04:21 PM
no way are they skunk or coon tracks..too big and look nothing at all like theirs ...they aren't bobcat prints as all cats keep their claws in while
walking and those appear to have exposed claws..hmmmm...in 20 years as a park ranger, i've never seen those before...but then again, i've never seen
chupacabra tracks either

Hey! Bob & Susan- No kidding! What is that dead baby thing? A Chupacabra? Now I wish I hadn't seen it. The feet look like the prints in the snow
that Astrobaja photographed. And what is that heavy metal mohawk thing goin' on?

bajabass - 1-27-2010 at 05:12 PM
Possibly a fox?
Bob and Susan - 1-27-2010 at 06:48 PM
that's the REAL baby Chupacabra...
later they get bigger and eat goats
fishbuck - 1-27-2010 at 06:51 PM
I thought they eat mostly Jackalopes
Bob and Susan - 1-27-2010 at 06:57 PM
come on fishbuck...jackalopes are a "fairy" tale
BajaNuts - 1-28-2010 at 12:06 AM
no way, Bob and Susan! Jackalopes are REAL!
In fact.. there's a local bar/tavern named "the Antlers" and they have racks of deer, moose, elk, and jackalopes mounted and on display in the bar.
I'll be in town tomorrow and I'll take a picture of the jackalope they have mounted and on display.
now that print in the snow.......hmmmmmmm

stay tuned~~~

Yup, them's chup tracks.
Bob and Susan's Chup looks real nice if it didn't have such a bad rap. It actually looks very sweet and cuddly in repose doesn't it?
Keep the Chup pics coming, I love those little rascals.

Mapache tracks.
TMW - 1-28-2010 at 07:53 AM
My first thought is they are Badger prints but a Badger has five claws showing when it walks. Most likely a dog except the cruve of the toes is
interesting, maybe distorted from the snow?

3 1/2 to 4" footprints? That's a big Chupa!
