WATER purification ?

roadhog - 1-31-2010 at 10:32 AM

speaking with a Baja hand at san diego, I heard purified water is commonly bought from a local distiller using something like the supermarket purified water machines seen in Florida and California - often unmaintained.

What machine water quality is expected around Guerrero Negro, San Ignacio ? Chlorinated ?

Suggestions on filtering the filtered water ?

I had thought bottled water (distilled) was available but the Baja hand said probabbbly not. In retro, truck shipping is too costly ?

Chlorinated makes me sick. Do I have a problem there ?

Are you looking for purified water for drinking or distilled water for other uses????

Is this for a house/RV or when you are traveling????

Most major towns in Baja have reverse osmosis plants which produce purified water of better quality than tap water in most US cities. Take one or more 5-gallon water containers to fill. Distilled water is occasionally available in 1-gallon jugs imported from the U.S., but I only use it for batteries and irons.

You will find water in some smaller mercados that is only filtered.
Most of the Aqua Purificado stores either have reverse osmosis or UV with filtration.

City water is typically not used for drinking in most towns.
Either becasue it tastes bad (high mineral or salt content) or because of potential unsanitary conditions.

We often use city water for bathing and dishwashing but drink the Aqua Purificado and we've never had a problem. We carry a manual pump for a 6 gallon water jug to keep Aqua Puirficado separate from the "house" water.

we use purified water for drinking and cooking...

8 pesos for 5 gallons
4 pesos for 5 gallons on thursday

it's fine

we use the trucked in well water for bathing and washing
its actually fine...

we do treat it in the tanks because it may have dirt in it

distilled water is available here at walmarts
its 30 pesos
thats 3 times the price of the states

i thought drinking distilled water was bad for you:?:

It is not harmful per se and it will quench your thirst but your body needs the minerals found in drinking water in the long run...

UV System
