Leaving Sunrise for Russ, Roger, Shari and other earlybird

I am not an earlybird unless I need to be somewhere. At times I peak out the window to see beautiful colors in the clouds, but that is on my way back from the bathroom before I hop back into a warm bed.

But today, I was awake early, before daylight. Ah, I see clouds and decide I should not be so lazy and try for a beautiful sunrise.

Having few clues about sunrise as I see so few, I did not realize I was quite early.

So, I quietly throw on warm clothes including a real fashion statement, my wool socks with my Chacos.



Not being a morning person, I could not even get the socks straight. Now I have grown used to socks with my Birkenstocks in cold weather, but this was a new thing.

OK, out the door, over the dunes to the edge of the cliff hoping I would not step on something unexpected in the dark,and dark it was.

Using my small flashlight, I set up my camera and begin to wait. I did notice that on the other side of town where the suns rises, the clouds were very, very thick and dark. This was not a good thing as I was waiting to capture the fire in the sky.

I wait, and wait. I see on the upper road a few cars. Good, that means the lobster fishermen are going to work so sunrise in coming, and I am still hopeful for the fire in the sky.

OK, still dark and still waiting, so I try a 30 second exposure just to see.



OK, no fire just what looks like a foggy lake on the moon.

Maybe the fire will be over Asuncion Island.



Well there is a little red tone there.

Ah ha. I see it breaking through over near the co op.



I quickly grab my tripod and camera and while humming John Dever songs, I head over the dunes toward Diverlandia.



Well there was a peek of fire.

So back to the beach where the best I could find was some interesting cloud formations. It looked like some blankets thrown in the sky.



Slightly cranky now that I chose the wrong morning and in desparate need of a cup of coffee, I returned to the house.

But this in the dunes



put a smile on my face. The flowers are on their way.

So the brillant sunrises belong to Russ, Roger, Shari and any of you other early birds. I will continue to enjoy them all.

Your creativity and good old mother nature took care of it all.. great job.. really like the feet.. great intro.. those socks..

It's all good, thank you for braving the elements to get the shots and without coffee.. you need someone to help out, where is that old man.. get him to bring you your coffee.. you have important things to do!!!

Your public awaits... and you can't disapoint the public can you?..

I don't mean to put any pressure on your, as I don't respond will to PRESSURE myself..

Have fun, as it looks like that is exactly what you are doing, and just really like some of your shot very much too.. most all around here seem to have an excellent eye for "when" to shoot.. thanks to all

Rough life Pompano, rough life!

I'm an early bird and usually working away by sunrise...dianne, the sunrise action happens on the other side...some morning when you manage to drag yourself out of that lovely warm bed, try walking up to the vigilancia shack at the point...amazing sunrise views from up there. I liked how the longer exposure makes the waves look all foggy but prefer my aussie uggs for early morning photos!

this one was fun to play around with on photoshop.

I like those socks, and wessongroup laughed at them.

I want to know where you bought that camera timer that lasts all night.

Are you kidding? I can´t even get the dogs to go out with me that early. They are getting older and like their creature comforts too much----shoot, none of them woke up when I came back.

OK, I will get more fashionable and buy some uggs and then head up that hill very soon, yes, very soon.

Diana I like that one picture with what looked like fog hanging over the water. Was that in fact fog. It was a great shot! You are a brave girl taking a picture of them socks and huaraches!

No, it is not fog. With a 30 second exposure, the waves flatten.
