Thanks for that, anyone know about availability of Licenses in Tecate? Things take a bit longer to get up to Canada in the mail and we're leaving in a couple of weeks.

Thanks all of you, I will try my luck with the website

bajabum - 2-12-2010 at 02:02 PM

It will cost you twice the normal price to buy a license at this website...

shari - 2-12-2010 at 02:14 PM

when we got them for our clients it was the same price.

Bob and Susan - 2-12-2010 at 02:20 PM

yea 500 and some pesos is about what i paid in santa rosalia last year

unless they hit you with a big service charge at he end

the price seems correct

things are just expensive everywhere:light:

bajabum - 2-12-2010 at 02:21 PM

i bought one at the website and never recieved it so I had to go to a local tackle shop and buy another one so it cost me twice the normal price! Plus if you cant read Spanish the site is difficult to figure out...Tell Juan to leave some of the yellowtail for me to catch next time Im down!

Our problem came when trying to print it off at the time of purchase. Had 2 licenses go thru 2 times but emailed and the charges were removed immediately. Then, they emailed me the license. In October we had to buy one for a friend and just mailed it. This works if you do it far enough in advance, or if buying an annual license I will try the Pesca site again for the May trip. The price has always been the same.

Happy fishing everyone!

THanks again all.

If I'm planning on fishing the Cortez and Pacific, what do I put for Fishing Zone on the application?

Online Fishing Permit site worked OK

Hi

I just put in for a Permit. Browser was Mozilla, which can give varying results on Mexican sites. I had to jiggle it a bit to get past the info entry screen re the address/ state; it wanted to specify non-mexico. It worked fine, and I was able to print out the permit, and save it as a PDF. Cost was 41.65 US, though costs are shown in Pesos while ordering. I put in for all federal waters. It allowed me to specify a date a month later as the start date. The first line on the CC charge screen is your name as on the card.

A few minutes after doing the visa charge I got a call from my CC company re a charge made in Mexico. You should remember to call all your cards/banks/atms and inform them re Mexico and/or US travel plans en route to Mexico.

A further good idea is to scan all your /passport/travel/personal/insurance documents and email a copy to yourself so that you can access them and print a copy if they are lost or stolen. I know someone who had all swiped and had to do some very fast/tedious talking to get back into the country.

Shari's reminder about needing the permit for spearfishing is worth noting.

Cheers,
Jay

Just get them at Discover Baja - easy - online - prices ok

BajaDanD - 2-23-2010 at 10:54 PM

stop at the dept of tourisum in Ensanada get it there no surcharge takes about five minutes.

Bob and Susan - 2-24-2010 at 06:08 AM

i saw that sign there the other day...

do you have a picture of the building so proplr can recognize it

that is the place in front of the cruise ships isn't it?

BajaDanD - 2-24-2010 at 05:27 PM

I am not talking about the Port Captians office. Im talking about the Dept of Tourisum office. Right across the street from Hotel Carona on the main drag through Ensanada on the scenic route Cant miss the sign. Its on the left as you are going south. If you come into Ensanada from the from the toll road and take the scenic route through the Marina district you go right past it. You do not have to make any turns on any streets. You can pull over on the right park and walk across the street. In and out in 5 minutes.

Just used this site to get our 2010 annual fishing licenses, worked great, went through without a hassle and printed permit immediately. This is the first time it went through so easily.:bounce:
